HACC Foundation donors provided funding to host a public lecture by artist Peggy Washburn at HACC's Harrisburg location on Sept. 20, 2023. Washburn is an interdisciplinary artist and educator whose work has been acquired by permanent collections, including the Bibliothéque Nationale de France, The Harry Ransom Center, Museo Nazionale della Fotografia, de Brescia Italy and The Ralph Lauren Collection. Along with numerous gallery shows, her work has been exhibited at Woodmere Art Museum, Frye Art Museum, Seattle Art Museum Gallery, Whatcom Museum of History and Art, and Aperture NYC. She currently serves on the Academic Advisory Board for the University of Washington’s certificate in photography and lives in Philadelphia, where she runs an after school photography program for at-risk youth.
The Rose Lehrman Arts Center encourages the understanding and appreciation of contemporary art by offering diverse, high-quality exhibitions, lectures and workshops. The goal of having an artist lecture about an exhibition is to bring students and community members to a better understanding of the artwork. Also, attendees are able to have one-on-one question and answer sessions with the artist during the reception following the lecture. For many HACC students, the Rose Lehrman Arts Center is the first gallery or museum experience of their lives. HACC supporters, including employees, students and community members agree that hearing the artist's lecture makes the visual art experience greater. Gallery programming improves the quality of life for HACC students, the HACC community and beyond. Thank you to the HACC Foundation donors - like you - who made this experience possible.
