Effective Jan. 26, 2026, future students applying for admission to HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, are required to pay an admission application fee when they submit their admission application. The HACC Board of Trustees approved a resolution implementing this fee at their Aug. 5, 2025, meeting.
The fee is one of several strategies employed by the College to decrease fraudulent admissions application activity. Over the past few years, higher education institutions across the nation have received an influx of fraudulent admissions applications. These fraudsters are participating in HACC’s new student experience sessions, enrolling in HACC classes and collecting federal financial aid dollars. Fraudulent admissions applications fill seats in classes that should be filled by legitimate students. Therefore, this admissions application fee helps to ensure that seats are readily available for HACC students to reach their dreams.
Please note:
The admissions application fee applies to all future students except College in the High School (CHS) and dual-enrolled students.
The College will continue to develop and implement accessibility practices that ensure all future students can successfully complete their admissions application.
Current HACC students will not be impacted by this fee.
HACC students are encouraged to apply for financial aid, scholarships and tuition giveaways to receive financial assistance throughout their time at the College.
In the latest episode of Community College Conversations, John J. “SKI” Sygielski, president and CEO of HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, joins Dr. Nicholas Neupauer, vice president of the PA Commission for Community Colleges, for “Presidential Spotlight.”
Dr. Ski and Dr. Neupauer discuss the importance of coming together to support students, expand opportunities and elevate the value of community colleges in the region. The conversation highlights how unity and advocacy drive progress for learners and communities alike.

HACC Foundation donors provided funding for the Summer Bridge Program, supporting 11 high school students as they transitioned to college at HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College. The program was designed to help ease the academic, social and institutional challenges that high school students may face when entering postsecondary education.
Participants completed a one-credit Foundational Studies course, FS 102, while receiving structured guidance from High School to College Pathway Navigators. This early exposure to college expectations and personalized support helped students build confidence, strengthen academic habits and become familiar with campus resources before the fall semester.
The Summer Bridge Program advances HACC’s mission to expand access and promote student success through innovative and inclusive pathways. It also prepares students for long-term academic achievement.
HACC Foundation donors provided funding for the Mamava Project, supporting the branding and visibility of lactation units across HACC’s campuses. The initiative helps provide student-parents and employees with accessible private spaces for breastfeeding or pumping.
Mamava lactation units help remove barriers for parenting students and employees by offering clean, secure and comfortable spaces that support needs under federal Title IX accommodation guidelines. Access to designated lactation spaces helps reduce stress for student-parents balancing academic or work responsibilities while encouraging consistent participation in campus activities.
The Mamava Project reflects HACC’s commitment to supporting an inclusive campus community that prioritizes the well-being and success of student-parents and employees.
The community has come together in an extraordinary way to support students at HACC. Through the #FarewellSki campaign, supporters raised more than $52,000, surpassing the $50,000 fundraising goal for the John J. “SKI” Sygielski and Steve Perrault Scholarship Endowment and creating a lasting legacy that will help students access education and opportunity for years to come.
The campaign honors the leadership and impact of HACC’s longest-serving president, John J. “Ski” Sygielski, whose passion for student success has shaped the College for almost 15 years. The scholarship endowment also recognizes the contributions of Dr. Ski’s husband, Steve Perrault, a longtime advocate and supporter of HACC.
By investing in students today, donors are helping create stronger communities across Central Pennsylvania. Scholarships like this provide critical resources that empower students to complete their education, build careers and contribute to the economic vitality of the region.

HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will host a series of in-person events to help future students begin the admissions process.
“Start at HACC: From Questions to Application” combines an admissions information session with step-by-step support for completing the HACC application. Attendees will learn about academic programs, receive personalized guidance and have the option to take a campus tour.
Participants will receive HACC swag and light refreshments. Also, they will have an opportunity to win a $500 tuition voucher that they can use when they enroll at HACC. Please visit hacc.edu/Visit to register today!

Eisenhauer works as a systems administrator in the Technology Department at Capital Area Intermediate Unit and has 10 years of experience in K-12 information technology. His career reflects a strong commitment to technology and service in education.
Emily Gerard
Gerard has completed a bachelor’s degree in health care administration and has worked as a medical billing supervisor for the past five years. She is currently enrolled in a certified professional coder certificate program, continuing her professional development in the healthcare field.
