In order to better support the diverse religious needs of our College community, HACC has dedicated a new interfaith prayer room in Cooper 130 at the Harrisburg Campus. This room is open to all students and employees for prayer and meditation and is provided particularly in response to our Muslim students’ request to have a safe and comfortable place to perform mandatory prayers throughout the day. The room will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m., Monday through Friday. Those who wish to utilize the room are encouraged to bring their own prayer rugs; however, mats are also available to use.

On Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021, the Keystone Education Yields Success (KEYS) Program was able to celebrate the close of the fall 2021 semester with our participating students. The event was generously funded by the HACC Foundation. All current KEYS participants were invited to join the Zoom event and learn how to prepare charcuterie boards with a sweet twist! Dessert boards were prepared by the students as our host from Slice of Divine Charcuterie guided us through the steps. Students were celebrated for their successful completion of another semester in their academic careers. During the event, we were also able to highlight and celebrate our fifteen graduating students. Dr. Ski joined us to greet students and congratulate each of them for their perseverance in the pursuit of obtaining their degrees. Dr. Ski engaged our graduates individually to allow them the opportunity to speak to their experiences and future endeavors.
The KEYS Program would like to thank Dr. Ski, the HACC Foundation, Slice of Divine Charcuterie and most importantly, our wonderful KEYS students for joining us! It was such a sweet way to close out another awesome semester!

Feeling stuck and not loving your program or major as much as you anticipated? We’re fully equipped to assist you with these situations here at Career Services.
Complete an interest inventory to uncover occupations that may relate to your skills. This will be especially helpful if you are “undecided” in your choice of major.
Identify your career goals; this might mean looking at transfer agreements, or identifying where you want to be in a year/3 years/5 years, etc. and how to get there professionally.
Learn to identify your skills. The average adult develops hundreds of skills, but most individuals cannot identify five skills, let alone market these to an employer. EVERYONE has skills—we can guide you to uncover them!
Improve your confidence!! Talking seamlessly about yourself, your experience, and your skills boosts your confidence in general and helps you attain it in the interview.
Uncover your personality traits by completing a personality assessment and learn how your results may lend themselves well to specific career fields. This is especially helpful at any point in your educational journey!
Examine career opportunities for your major and uncover career growth opportunities related to pursuing additional training/education.
Consider a parallel pathway if you enjoy the broad field but are questioning your major or program. There might be something similar you hadn’t known about before that could be a perfect fit!
Explore the “world of work” by completing a career research technique like informational interviewing. Learn how to approach employers, request an informational interview, and receive guidance on questions you may wish to ask.
Plan to attend the numerous Career Services workshops offered throughout the semester. Topics in the past have revolved around career exploration and job searching.
Receive guidance on how to arrange a job shadowing opportunity. What an excellent way to learn more about the fields you may wish to pursue by observing professionals directly.
Discover the many benefits of volunteering and how to obtain an opportunity.
Consider interning in your major, internships here at HACC can be arranged for either credit or non-credit. Learn the difference between the two, how to prepare for, and uncover the many internship opportunities that exist.
Schedule a career event into your semester’s plans. These events are excellent opportunities to develop professionally and connect with individuals already working in various fields.
Develop a resume that best showcases employers' education, skills and experience. There are three resume formats, but not one format works for everyone. Identify the resume basics and then learn how to write a resume and cover letter specific to each position you are applying for.
Learn how to develop a “personal pitch” that best highlights YOUR skills and experience, all the while grabbing an employer’s attention. This “pitch” can be used as you market yourself at job fairs, on the cover letter, communicating over the phone or via Zoom, or at the time of the interview as you answer questions like, “Tell me about yourself” and “Why should I hire you?”
Career Services offers Mock Interviews to assist you by practicing some of the most common interview questions and questions directly related to the field you are pursuing.
Further, uncover what it is you want from your career. What are your workplace values? What needs have to be met for you to be successful?
Network with family, friends, and professors and establish your very own professional “LinkedIn account.” Networking is by far the most effective way to secure employment. Uncover tips on how to network successfully.
Plan to attend HACC’s spring 2022 Internship Fair Wednesday, March 2, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. AND 4-6 p.m. Numerous employers will be on hand to discuss internship opportunities that they offer. Head to THIS link for more events!
Create an overall effective job search strategy well before the time of graduation, which includes understanding your “personal brand.” You’ll want to include the use of tools like HACC’s job posting service, College Central Network (CCN) to search for employment opportunities.
Come for the approachable and informative staff! We are here and excited to assist and support you, both during your time at HACC and as an Alumni.
We can’t wait to see YOU in 2022!

Dear Student,
The deadline to verify your enrollment is approaching. To ensure you continue receiving your Monthly Housing Allowance (MHA) and/or kicker payments, verify your enrollment as soon as possible.
If you previously opted-in to text message verification, you should receive a text message from Veterans Affairs at the end of the month requesting that you verify enrollment.
If you continued to attend your courses or training over the past month, reply “Yes” to verify enrollment.
If you reply “No,” your file will be flagged for review.
NOTE: If your schedule or courses have changed, please contact us; so we can resolve any issues and avoid delayed payments.
If you are enrolled in email verification, you should receive an email from Veterans Affairs at the end of the month requesting that you verify enrollment. Follow the links in the email to notify Veterans Affairs of your enrollment status.
If you fail to submit enrollment verification for two consecutive months, your MHA/kicker payments will be stopped until you verify your enrollment.
If you need to verify your enrollment over the phone, opt-in to text verification, or enroll in email verification, you may call the Education Call Center (ECC) at 1-888-GIBILL-1 (1-888-442-4551) domestically or 001-918-781-5678 overseas.

All of this information will also be shared with affected students directly. To find your SCO, go to the GI BILL Comparison Tool and search for your school.
Thank you for your hard work and continued support of our GI Bill beneficiaries throughout this new process.
