This guide is intended primarily as a tutorial in shelf-reading for new library staff and student employees, but might also provide general orientation for those using an academic library organized by the Library of Congress Classification system.Â
The HACC Library uses the alphanumeric Library of Congress Classification System to organize its book collection. This system allows us to easily and efficiently keep track of large amounts of books. This tutorial will teach you how to use the LCC system to shelve books, shelf-read, and to perform general stack maintenance.
