June is Pride Month. In June 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn in New York. The uprising surrounding this raid is noted as a tipping point for the gay rights movement in the United States. To honor the uprising, Pride Month is celebrated in June each year. Here at HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College, we proudly celebrate and support our LGBTQIA+ community members.

To all the graduates – HACC yeah, you did it!
On July 8, 2025, Dr. Ski, president and CEO of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will be embarking on his final bike ride in support of HACC’s students before retirement. Along his journey, Dr. Ski will raise money to help students and visit HACC’s community partners. Dr. Ski became the College’s seventh president in July 2011 and is the longest-serving president in HACC’s history.
Dr. Ski has led numerous initiatives to help countless students access the education they need to create a better life for themselves and their families.

Anyone who contributes at least $100 to the scholarship link above by July 10 will be entered to win a tree-naming opportunity!
One winner will be selected for every $1,000 raised. Winners will have the opportunity to name a tree in honor of a loved one or themselves at HACC’s Gettysburg, Harrisburg, Lancaster or York campuses. Please note that there are no trees at HACC’s Lebanon Campus.
The names of the winners will be selected after the bike ride concludes, and the winners will be contacted via email.
The HACC Board of Trustees announced that it is extending the search for president and CEO of HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. Dr. Ski will continue to serve as president and CEO of HACC until June 30, 2026, or until a new president is hired - whichever date occurs first.

HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, recently received an $800,000 Dual Credit Innovation Grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. This funding will enable the College to expand access to affordable dual enrollment classes for eligible high school students across Pennsylvania.

HACC Foundation donors funded a career day hosted by HACC’s computer technology and trades programs.
Approximately 100 high school students in HACC’s service region attended a career day event to learn more about the career pathways HACC offers. Students had the opportunity to visit the campus, interact with HACC faculty and attend a lunch. Survey results indicated that 73% of student respondents were more likely to explore attending classes at HACC after participating in the event.
Future planning for the next career day will focus on:
Expanding outreach
Increasing participation
Strengthening high school partnerships
The career day event was largely successful and laid the groundwork for supporting future students in their career exploration and connection to HACC.
HACC Foundation donors funded the S.A.F.E. (Student Application Fraud Examination) software to prevent fraudulent admissions applications from entering HACC’s computer systems.
A HACC workgroup was established to research ways to reduce the creation of fraudulent accounts and identify processes to diminish overall risk to the College. The S.A.F.E. software was recommended as a potential solution. The software will diminish manual workload and improve the overall student experience.
HACC remains committed to ensuring safety in today’s increasingly digital and automated environment. The use of software platforms, such as S.A.F.E., will optimize but not replace human oversight in these types of processes.
