These stories are part of our “HACC Heroes” series. We recognize the severity of the global coronavirus pandemic and its impact on our communities. During this challenging time, we want to thank and recognize some of the many HACC employees, students and others who are making a difference.
Since March 19, 2020, all but a few employees and all students at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, have been working and learning remotely as a result of the global coronavirus pandemic. Thousands of employees found themselves coping with unique situations as they adjusted to today’s “new normal.”

Jake Grim, a student enrolled in the Business Administration Program at HACC, wanted to give back to his community during the global coronavirus pandemic. He made over 800 face shields and distributed them to organizations within the community. To read the full story, please visit our online newsroom.
The HACC Foundation has generously provided more than $70,000 to eliminate the past due balances of more than 515 students at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. To read the full story, please visit our online newsroom.
The coronavirus pandemic has increased the vulnerability of those affected by food insecurity and financial instability, including HACC’s students. Since March 1, 2020, the HACC Foundation has generously awarded over $17,000 in emergency assistance funds to impacted students.

Gratefully YOURS!
Thanks to the HACC Foundation, five future students who are frontline workers or unemployed due to the pandemic have the chance to receive a full-ride scholarship. Starting this fall, it will cover the student’s tuition, books and fees required for the chosen program in a two-year period.
Students can enroll in any HACC program except for a few with current waiting lists. These programs, the full list of requirements and online application are available at hacc.edu/FullRideScholarship.
Please help share this exciting news with future students!
We are so grateful to our generous donors who have named spaces, benches, trees and bricks in support of HACC’s students. Due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, the installation of all bricks and plaques has been postponed.
We expect the installation process to resume in 2021. We will update donors at that time. Please note that this time period is tentative and subject to change.
Please contact us at foundation@hacc.edu if you have any questions or need additional information. Thank you.
In summer 2019, a group of visual and performing arts colleagues approached the Office of College Advancement team to see what could be done to enhance their ‘templated’ academic program pages. They were looking for a solution to help entice potential students to enroll in HACC’s arts programs. Since other college arts programs utilize visuals extensively, we knew we had to look ‘outside the box.’
Months of collaboration, including surveying more than 100 art students, resulted in a Visual and Performing Arts website that focuses on HACC’s most visually and graphically stimulating programs: art, theatre, graphic and interactive design and photography.
The new website showcases student work and includes:
· Student testimonials
· Upcoming events
· Enhanced program descriptions
· “What you’ll need for class” section (which many of our students suggested!)
· Meet our faculty section
· Why consider HACC? section
· What we offer/facilities/labs section
· Calls to action at the bottom of each page
This new website will help keep HACC competitive among other colleges and universities.

As we navigate these unprecedented times, kindness and empathy go a long way. We are a long way from “normal.” However, we can embrace the times and encourage one another to press forward.
Some HACC students are struggling during this time and could use our help and encouragement.
We are looking for written testimonials, photos and/or videos (30 seconds or less) that show HACC alumni and donors:
Holding up inspirational or supportive signs for our students
Sharing inspirational thoughts and tips for students who are struggling
If you are interested in supporting HACC students, please complete this form. Thank you!
