Hello, HACC Hawks!

Welcome to the student newsletter. HACC is dedicated to providing news that matters most to you in an easy-to-read format. We will continue to share relevant information and keep you “in the know” as we serve and support you.

This newsletter is shared with all current HACC students.

Thank you!

After reviewing the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Governor’s Office and recommendations report from the College’s COVID-19 task force, we have decided on the following plans for fall:

  • The College will remain open.

  • HACC’s campuses will remain closed until Dec. 31.

  • Classes will be taught online through remote instruction and virtual learning.

  • Student services will be provided online.

  • Only credit and Workforce Development programs with required hands-on/experiential components to meet learning outcomes will be permitted to hold on-campus classes. In these cases, class size may be limited, and personal protective equipment (PPE) and social distancing guidelines from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) must be followed.

  • Only essential personnel or employees involved in the programs that are granted an exception by the governor may return to campus. Training will be provided on COVID-19 protocol and screenings.

  • This is subject to change at the direction of the Cabinet or by state mandate.

These decisions were made while keeping your safety and well-being in mind.

Please visit hacc.edu/coronavirus for more details on our fall semester plans and supports to help you continue to succeed at HACC.

A New Student Orientation is Coming Soon!

New Student Orientation is under construction! As part of the One-College reorganization, HACC is working tirelessly to bring you an updated orientation. Our new program is all about serving YOUR needs and empowering you to connect with HACC resources and key employees. Most importantly, we want to motivate you to find your why, or your primary reason, for coming to HACC.

Assisting you in making a smooth transition to college and empowering you to seek assistance on your own have been our why as we are developing this new program. Our fall 2020 orientation sessions will be held remotely via Zoom, but we are hopeful to connect face-to-face again in 2021. If you have not yet attended a New Student Orientation, keep an eye on your email for more information. We are excited to welcome you to HACC and cannot wait to meet you!

HACC Student Makes Face Shields for Frontline Workers

This story is part of our “HACC Heroes” series. We recognize the severity of the global coronavirus pandemic and its impact on our communities. During this challenging time, we want to thank and recognize some of the many HACC employees, students and others who are making a difference. The hero of this story is Jake Grim, a HACC student.

Jake Grim, a student enrolled in the Business Administration Program at HACC, wanted to give back to his community during the global coronavirus pandemic. He made over 800 face shields and distributed them to organizations within the community. To read the full story, please visit our online newsroom.
