The HACC Foundation donors generously funded the GED and Skilled Training Academy. This initiative aimed to support low-income Harrisburg residents who wanted to earn their GED while providing them with occupational skills training and job readiness support.
Thirty deserving participants were able to complete at least one of the following HACC programs for free:
Individualized GED instruction and testing in all four GED subjects
College and career readiness training through the S.T.E.P. Academy
OSHA Certification
CPR Certification
Specialized Occupational Workforce Certification in the Phlebotomy Technician Program
Specialized Occupational Workforce Certification in Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Machining
Moreover, the students received ongoing academic support, job placement assistance, continuing education, financial aid guidance, Google Chromebooks, course textbooks, scientific calculators, Act 33 & 34 clearances and program-required uniforms.
The GED and Skilled Training Academy significantly impacted the lives of the participants and their families. They can now earn a living wage and have the option of continuing their post-secondary education.
