HACC Library Student Employee Spotlight
Banned Books Week Display at the Lancaster Campus
Aaron Ketchersid-Lusk, Student Employee
“The first week of October is known as Banned Books Week, where awareness about book banning and censorship is raised. At the Lancaster Campus Library, I researched how other libraries have tackled this issue, as well as information about the reasons some of the books in our collection tend to be challenged. From this, I created a display that is eye-catching as well as informative, thanks to some of the resources of the American Library Association.”

Black Students Can ‘Be the Change’ through HACC Scholarships
In fall 2021, the PNC Foundation awarded a $112,500 grant to the HACC Foundation that provided full-ride scholarships for Black students enrolled in HACC’s Police Academy or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program. In spring 2023, the grant was expanded to provide full-ride scholarships for Black students enrolled in HACC’s Advanced EMT, Criminal Justice, Paralegal Studies Certificate and Paramedic programs.

Please help us spread the word about this initiative so these scholarships can be awarded! Please visit hacc.edu/BeTheChange to learn more and share these materials with interested individuals.

Our goal is to learn, support, celebrate and grow together.

The flexibility of the job made it easy to find the balance between work life and school life.
