Welcome to the student newsletter. HACC is dedicated to providing news that matters most to you in an easy-to-read format. We will continue to share relevant information and keep you “in the know” as we serve and support you.

End of Semester

It’s that time of year again where the air is brisk and prickly on your skin, holiday traditions are starting, and final exams are approaching. Student Involvement would like to take the time to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that students have put into finishing this semester off strong. Pursuing a higher education career is not an easy task, especially in current situations, but we are all so proud of everyone who persevered and conquered. Job well done!

What should I do before coming to campus each day?

All individuals regardless of vaccination status must self-screen prior to coming to campus.

Additionally, please complete this new online COVID form if you have:

  • Had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19

  • Had indirect contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19

  • Tested positive for COVID-19 yourself

  • Have COVID-19 symptoms:

○ Congestion or runny nose

○ Cough

○ Diarrhea

○ Fatigue

○ Fever or chills

○ Headache

○ Muscle or body aches

○ Nausea or vomiting

○ New loss of taste or smell

○ Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

○ Sore throat

Please remember that some symptoms are similar to cold symptoms. Therefore, if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms, it’s very important to NOT come to campus AND to complete the online COVID form.

2020-21 HACC and HACC Foundation Annual Report is Now Online!

The 2020-21 HACC and HACC Foundation annual report is now available online. This year’s report focuses on Overcoming Barriers #HACCtogether!

For 2020-21, did you know?


  • HACC’s Technology Loan Program helped more than 450 students who otherwise may not have been able to complete their studies and attend classes remotely.

  • Nursing students and faculty volunteered to administer COVID-19 vaccinations at local clinics.

  • HACC remains committed to ensuring our diverse student and employee populations feel valued at HACC – no matter their ages, ancestries, colors, disabilities, gender identities, marital statuses, national origins, places of birth, political affiliations or beliefs, races, religions, sexual orientations and veteran statuses.

New Student Orientation is Here for YOU!

The team that brings you YOUR new student orientation is here to help you move seamlessly through the enrollment process.

The New Student Orientation team is always there to move students from admissions to registration while empowering them to knowledgeably and confidently interact with HACC resources and key personnel.

These student-centered professionals are communicating with students regularly through a variety of ways (including emails, text messages and phone calls) and are excited to work with all new students at the start of their educational journey.

Think of New Student Orientation as the office where you can go for help with all of your new student needs.

Student Honors Photography Exhibition

A virtual exhibition of photographs created by students at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, is currently on display through Dec. 3, 2021, on the Rose Lehrman Art Gallery’s webpage.

A virtual reception will be held on Dec. 2, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. where participants can meet and talk with students and faculty. Awards will be presented during the reception at approximately 6 p.m.

Graduates Participate On Discussion Panel

During our most recent collegewide KEYS Program zoom session, current students had the opportunity to engage in conversation with eight former KEYS graduates. Several of the attendees made connections with panelists regarding their next steps at Millersville University.

Others identified with the similar struggles and challenges that were discussed.The alumni shared their experiences and provided guidance, advice and tips for success at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College. Examples are included in the list below:

  • Avail yourself to the resources available at HACC.

  • Engage proactively in tutoring.

  • Network and talk to people, open up.

  • Attend meetings and campus engagement activities.

  • Fight against procrastination. Divide work into chunks.

  • Seek out and experiment with organization techniques that fit your needs.

  • Advocate for yourself.

  • Attend all classes and participate.


  • Communicate with your professors.

  • Make a phone call rather than email.

Practice self-care and give yourself grace.

Bucknell University's Full-Tuition Scholarship

Are you interested in an opportunity to earn a full-tuition scholarship? Then here is your chance! Through the Bucknell Community College Scholars Program (BCCSP), you will be able to attend a six-week summer program.

During those weeks, you will take two classes and live on Bucknell's campus making new friends and experiencing all BU offers in and out of the classroom.

This unique opportunity takes place while you are completing your degree at HACC. After completing the summer program, students will return to HACC and register for classes to complete their associate degree. While finishing up at HACC, students can apply to Bucknell for a chance to be accepted and offered a full-tuition scholarship.

Eligibility qualifications:

  • Household income threshold of $60,000 for families; $30,000 for independent students;

  • $45,000 for married couples

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher;

  • Have completed a minimum of 12 community college credits as of Jan. 15, 2022

  • Have demonstrated leadership abilities, problem-solving skills and campus engagement

At HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, we make it our mission for you to complete your degree, certificate or diploma with us. HACC is here for you as you continue on YOUR journey to success. The College will continue to offer different ways to support you through these times.

Thanks to the HACC Foundation, 40 $2,000 tuition giveaways will be awarded to continuing and future HACC students for the spring 2022 semester. If you are awarded, the $2,000 can be applied to your tuition and fees for your spring 2022 semester only. Spring classes begin Jan. 18, 2022.

Follow these Steps to Landing the Right Job or Internship for You! Tips from Career Services.

Whether you are graduating this December or simply looking for your next employment opportunity, Career Services is here to help you along any step of the way!

  • Step 1) Write a Strong Resume that highlights YOUR best skills and accomplishments. After writing a draft make an appointment with Career Services to have it reviewed.

  • Step 2) Prior to the job search, make sure your online presence is professional. Google yourself! According to a survey conducted by CareerBuilder in 2017, 70 percent of employers look up applicants online and use social media while screening candidates.

  • Step 3) Start the Job search process. Register and upload your resume to College Central Network (CCN): https://www.collegecentral.com/hacc/ Employers who express interest in HACC students and alumni are referred to CCN to post positions.

  • Step 4) Network and Learn how to create a LinkedIn account.

It’s estimated that about 80 percent of jobs are found through networking.

  • Step 5) Prepare for the Interview - Study Yourself, Research the Employer and Practice, Practice, Practice! Schedule a mock interview with Career Services: It is all about preparation!

  • Step 6) Stay positive! Remember the job search is a process, it will take time and dedication.

HACC Hawks Finish Strong

As the fall season concludes for the HACC Hawks, there have been many great achievements during this season’s play. The Hawks women’s volleyball team repeat as Coach Tom Frye is named Coach of the Year, and the team earns EPAC Champions. #17 Kyla Kolivoski and #6 Kendall Wales are selected for First Team All-Conference picks for HACC. Freshman Kolivoski and Wales have been two powerhouses for the Hawks this season.

Kolivoski has been a solid player with 23 Kills and 151 Digs.

Wales has been another key piece to the Hawks squad with 135 Kills and 182 Digs recorded on the year.

In October, the HACC Women’s Volleyball team upset the Region 19 DIV-II No. 1 seed Harcum with a 3-0 sweep. This improved the team’s overall standing to a 9-4 overall record and 9-0 within the EPAC. #13 Megan DiAngelis has been the team's top offensive threat, leading the squad with 136 kills on the season. The Hawks’ women’s volleyball team was seeded third going into the Region 19 Division III championship tournament, with a three-game winning streak as the squad continued to fire on all cylinders. The Semifinals was a thrilling match between the Hawks and the Middlesex County College Colts on Oct. 25, 2021. This win brought the team to the Final Four match against Rowan College of South Jersey held Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021. The Hawks put up a tough fight, but were unable to grab the win from the Road Runners, concluding the volleyball season.

In Esports news, the HACC Hawks look to stay strong as the 2021 season reaches the halfway point. Esports player John Duane “SharpWiskers” Lopiparo Jr. is ranked fourth in Call of Duty: Special Ops - Warzone totaling 17 points for the season. The Hawks hold a record of 1-3 for Overwatch, 4-1 for Call of Duty, and 3-2 in Rocket League. Aristoltel-Andrew “TheLastMagic” Kline and Romelle “Slashtech” Wilson have been dominating with 4-1 records on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Stay tuned as Esports playoffs will be coming soon!

Hitting the trails this fall season, the cross-country team made their debut at the EPAC NJCAA Region 19 Championship Meet on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021. The Hawks had two All-Conference runners selected this season. Hedalis Henriquez Lopez placed second in the women’s race with a 23:19 5k and Matthew Getz earned fourth place in the men’s 8K with a 32:28. The Hawks cross-country team finished strong this season as they competed at the NJCAA Region 19 Championship on Saturday, Oct. 30, 2021, at White Clay Creek State Park, Delaware. Both the men’s and women’s field were small, but fast right out of the gate. In the women’s bracket, HACC’s Hedalis Henriquez Lopez placed fourth in Division III and received All-Region. HACC’s Matthew Getz placed 13th out of 39 in the Division III field for the men’s bracket.

Additionally, we are hosting Weekly Wellness Zoom Classes each week, from Monday through Thursday. The class offerings are Strength and Stretch, Yoga, Circuit Workout and T’ai Chi. These classes are great stress relievers, energy boosters and can be found on the wellness calendar located on the Hawks athletics webpage.

We are, also, hiring student workers for this coming winter/spring 2021-2022 season. This is a great opportunity to further engage in the HACC community and get involved as a student!
