Donors’ Impact on Academic Programs

The HACC Foundation Funds the Purchase of Ventilator for the Respiratory Therapy Program

HACC Foundation donors provided funding for the purchase of a Bunnell High Frequency Neonatal Jet Ventilator for HACC’s Respiratory Therapist Program. The ventilator provides students with hands-on training and experience, which is needed for very sick and premature infants in the neonatal intensive care unit. Respiratory therapy students must be prepared and proficient in the use of this device to properly care for neonatal patients who are using this ventilator.

With the addition of this equipment, HACC’s diverse respiratory students now remain on the cutting edge of their profession since HACC is one of few schools in our service area with one of these ventilators. The valuable experience gained with training on this equipment will be attractive to potential employers. Also, graduates of the program will be able to help  current respiratory therapists to use the equipment.

Since current and future respiratory therapy students will be competent in the use of this equipment, HACC will continue to be the leader in excellent respiratory education and patient care today and well into the future.

Black Students Can ‘Be the Change’ through HACC Scholarships

In fall 2021, the PNC Foundation awarded a $112,500 grant to the HACC Foundation that provided full-ride scholarships for Black students enrolled in HACC’s Police Academy or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Program. In spring 2023, the grant was expanded to provide full-ride scholarships for Black students enrolled in HACC’s Advanced EMT, Criminal Justice, Paralegal Studies Certificate and Paramedic programs.

Through these scholarships, the HACC Foundation covers all tuition and educational costs associated with these programs. That’s right - eligible Black students will go to HACC for free.

Please help us spread the word about this initiative so these scholarships can be awarded! Please visit hacc.edu/BeTheChange to learn more and share these materials with interested individuals.
