HACC, Central Pennsylvania's Community College
The Community Standards & Student Engagement office believes in creating an educationally focused student conduct system. We create opportunities for HACC students to learn from their mistakes, through restorative, developmental and resolution strategies. Our goal is to help students understand the importance of taking accountability for their actions through an educational lens.
SGP 505 and College Policy 074 are two of the documents used when a HACC student violates a policy. Please review the documents below, so you are familiar with the policies and process as a student.
HACC has a Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), which consists of administrators and faculty and serves all five campuses. Behaviors of concern might be observed in a number of settings: in the classroom (virtually or in person), at a service location or office, at an on-campus job, virtual, or during participation at an extracurricular activity. By reporting behaviors that are concerning, the Behavioral Intervention Team is able to reach out to students to intervene, provide support, and connect them with resources that can assist them.
The Behavioral Intervention Team is a team that meets regularly to serve five major functions for the campus:
Act in a proactive manner to assist students
Maintain confidentiality and handle all matters discreetly
Connect students with needed resources, and
Recommend interventions or sanctions
In general, any behavior that disrupts the mission or learning environment of the college or causes concern for a student’s well-being should be reported.
This includes:
Suspected violations of college policies
Concerns about a student’s well-being
The Director of Community Standards & Student Engagement manages the Behavioral Intervention Team. If you have any questions about the Community Standards Process, please visit the Community Standards Website or contact: Dr. Courtney Allen via email at caallen@hacc.edu.
