What is the purpose of Title I?

A Title I, Part A program is to provide all children with a significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education AND To close educational achievement gaps (ESEA section 1001)


How is a School Eligible for Title I?

Title I eligibility for School Year 2020-2021 is based on a minimum poverty threshold of 47.2%, which is determined by the percentage of students qualifying for free and reduced-priced meals.


What are the requirements of Title I?

Comprehensive Needs Assessment (CNA) must be conducted at each  Title I school in order to gain a better understanding of the strengths and the contributing/root causes of the identified needs.

Title I Schoolwide Plan must be written, implemented and monitored by each school. It describes how the school will improve academic achievement by addressing contributing causes of needs identified in the school’s CNA. Our school’s Comprehensive Academic Plan (CAP) is considered to be the Title I Schoolwide Plan.

Parent and Family Engagement activities are to improve student academic achievement and school performance.


What is parent involvement for Title I?

Parents are encouraged to be involved in our school, and may do so in the following ways:

○ Planning/organizing events when they do occur

○ Prepare classroom materials such as cutting paper for crafts and setting up activities at home to be returned to schools

○ Chaperone field trips when they resume

○ Assist your child in community service opportunities

○ Attend school events when they return or join virtual meetings. 

○ Assist students with classroom curriculum.

○ Other opportunities based on classroom need
