Hi! I am Leslie Johnson, an 8th grade ELA teacher here at Northside. I look forward to a wonderful year with you.
I grew up here in Greenwood and attended Greenwood High School, the only high school here at that time. I graduated from Clemson University with my Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Elementary Ed. I have completed my +18 hours post degree in ELA, Middle Level Education with GT endorsement, and am certified to teach K-8 in South Carolina.
Although I entered the education field expecting to teach younger children, I began my teaching career in middle school and haven’t looked back! I taught 6th grade regular and GT ELA for four years in Greenville County before returning to Greenwood. Here I taught 7th grade four years at Southside Middle and 6th and 8th grade at Northside for fourteen.
My family is a large one! I have four children: Buddy, Landyn, Abby Grace, and Hamp. Buddy graduated from Berry College and is newly married. Landyn attends PTC, and Abby Grace studies at C of C. My youngest, Hamp, is currently at Greenwood High. Though they are all in different places, growing like weeds, they know they will always be welcome back home, no matter where they are.
This year as you learn and grow here at our school, it is my hope that you consider Northside your home...somewhere you feel secure, encouraged, and loved. Middle school is challenging. Let’s work together to make this year your best yet!
