The goal of Math PLP is to offer students differentiated instruction through personalized pacing in Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Each day, you will work through the state standards by watching videos, doing practice through Pearson’s Math XL program, and completing “teacher talks” with one of the three instructors. Teacher talks offer students the chance to have small group discussions with the teacher, after you have already obtained some background knowledge of the topic. This is the most important part of the process, because the teacher talks allows your instructors to gauge where you are at in terms of the learning target. Once all objectives on the Unit Plan are completed, you will be ready for the summative assessment. In order to move from one learning target to the next, you need to score “Nearing Proficient” or above on the snapshot. If you score “Below Basic” or “Failing” on any Learning Target of an Essential Standard Test, it is encouraged to re-take before moving on to the next Essential Standard. There are several tutors in the room as well as 3 math teachers, so individual help is always readily available!
