October 2023 Update:
We would like to inform you about an important update from Google that will impact how students access third-party apps using their Google Accounts within Grain Valley Schools. These changes are a mandatory requirement from Google and are an important part of our ongoing commitment to enhance security and protect student data privacy.
Restricted Access for Students Under 18: As a new measure, students under the age of 18 will no longer have the ability to independently access third-party applications with their school-provided Google accounts. To grant students access to such apps, they must first be approved and configured by the school administration.
Approved Applications: Our district has already approved hundreds of applications and websites and will continue to do so. We prioritize applications that have educational value and adhere to our privacy policies. For example, educational tools like Blooket will receive approval, while applications like TikTok, which do not align with our educational objectives, will not be approved.
Moving Forward: In case a website or app that you use for instruction is currently blocked but is on our approved list, you can easily submit a technology help ticket to request it to be unblocked. If the website or app is not already on the approved list, please submit a request for a review of its suitability. The process for requesting a review can be found on the right side of the approved app and website list.
These changes are intended to create a safer and more secure online learning environment, ensuring that students have access to the most relevant and educationally beneficial tools while protecting their privacy and data. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we implement these necessary measures.
