“I think nowadays that kids are soft and are treated like babies by their parents. When I was growing up I got whooped with anything my mom or dad could find doesn't matter what it was. If I was acting up or doing something I wasn't supposed to do I got whooped with a belt, cord, hanger, ect. Parents nowadays think that it’s child abuse or that it isn´t right but how are your kids supposed to learn discipline. If you don't whoop them and instead ground them then that could just lead to them doing it again, but if you whoop them then they are going to remember how much it hurt and not want to feel the pain again. Parents need to stop babying their kids. They need to be whooped to show who is the parent. People who don't whoop their kids are just ignorant, and it shows in public if your kid is cussing you out or not listening to you or telling you what to do then it shows that their kid isn't getting in trouble or getting whooped. My dad helped me do right and wrong but I still messed up and got in trouble and I got in a lot of trouble but I learned my lesson. I didn't do it a second time. But in all my kids won't disrespect me and act up and if they do they are getting whooped with a belt.’’
‘’I can remember the moment like it was yesterday winning that Nokona championship, there were seven teams, they were from New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas, the games were tough and they had to show up to play. The first game was the toughest, it was an early game and we were all tired, but after that first home run we all woke up and we were ready to play. We ended up winning all the games and taking home the crown. Once we got done we went and celebrated. We celebrated at a Pizza Hut. When we got done eating the drive home was a long one, we all fell asleep and didn't wake up till the next day at noon.”

In the early ’90s, I played football for Waco Christian High School. I was a starter on the varsity team. I played center on the offensive line, and I also started on the defense as a defensive end. During my senior year, I busted my chin open during the Homecoming game. I did not get stitches even though I probably should have. I still have a scar today. My favorite memory from football was scoring a safety during my senior year. On the kickoff, I was able to tackle the other team’s receiver in the end zone, which resulted in a safety. My team had many ups and downs. The games were we played hard and focused, we won. We made it to the playoffs. Unfortunately, we would always lose the first round in the playoffs. After I graduated from high school, I went to Stephen F. Austin State University. I knew when I graduated from Waco Christian High school I wanted to be a teacher. I decided to be a history teacher because of my father. My father was a history teacher for my whole childhood. I am from a family of teachers. I studied government and history. I was a fairly typical student and I don't have any crazy stories to pass on. I was in college for 4 years. I applied for a job in Grandview, Texas, and have been a teacher here since.

I was standing at the Alamo with my husband, now ex-husband, and my daughter. We used to go there a lot since his family lived there. We also took long weekends and family vacations to see them In San Antonio. I was thinking in my head the person in front of me looked familiar. I kept thinking and kept looking and it was Kevin Kosner, so I turned to my husband at the time and said, “Honey that’s Kevin Kosner.” He replies, “ Oh my gosh, your right we should go take a picture.” So we started walking up to him and right as we got there, there was a mob around him so we pushed through, and right as we got there Kevin was signing autographs and taking pictures. Right before we could take a picture and get some autographs he goes “Guys I’m sorry but I’m just trying to have a nice vacation with my family.” I totally got that so we let him be and took a picture in front of the Alamo and went home pretty sad and hoping that I would've gotten a picture with him.
I also met and talked to Kenny Chesney. I was at one of his concerts and this one would have been the biggest one he would've had but not a lot of people came. I had a backstage pass and it took me a second to find where I was going. I had to ask a few security guards but when I got there there were already a ton of people. It would take me forever to find him because the show ended 10 minutes ago but I saw him. He is kind of towards the back of the room so I would have had to go all the way to the other side of the room to talk to him, so I started to make my move. I got there and our conversation went a little like this “Hey I’m Kim Hanna I would say I'm your biggest fan but you probably get that a lot so I'm going to save both of our times.” And he goes “Yeah your right I do get that a lot and some people are crazy and I try my best to avoid them.” I reply with “Yeah being a big star like you I can see that.” He says “Thanks and I hope you had fun tonight” and he exits to go talk to his agent. I left with a story and another amazing and fun night at a concert.

My favorite memory of my childhood that I can remember was playing outside with my brother. That was really fun then. We practically lived outside when we were kids. We would come up with the most fun games we had ever played. Something else that we would do is we would ride our bikes to the local store and buy ice cream, my favorite flavor was chocolate when I was a kid, now it is cookies and cream, but I still love chocolate flavored ice cream. I loved doing that, that was one of my favorite things to do during those days. One day we wanted a swing so we just found a tire, a rope, and a tree, and then we made a tire swing. It was so very magnificent and awesome! We swung on it every day when we had the chance. It was so fun, my brother and I would also get in trouble sometimes for playing in our grandparents garden though. How we would get in trouble was when we accidentally trampled over the plants. Which wasn't a good thing then. Then we were not able to have tomatoes, peas, squash, and vegetables like that.
My other favorite memory that I can remember is when I would go to my Grandparents’ house and help my grandma snap peas. We would snap so many peas, but it would take so long to do. Afterward, my fingers would hurt so bad, but it was fun though. We would pick and snap about ten each person and about fifty a day. All of us worked on the peas, so we all felt accomplished snapping the peas. I would feel so accomplished afterward. The reward afterward would be that we would eat them after we were done snapping the peas. We would eat them every day, but I would never get tired of them. It was the experience and the days I got to spend with my grandparents. These both were the best time and most favorite time of my childhood that I can remember.

High school was probably one of the best times of my life. My first car was a Honda Element, I did everything in that car. When I was in high school I played many sports. By far the thing I loved about my car was that the back seats could lay out. At my church we had this old little couch that I could fit in the back, so like before basketball games we would pull out the couch and grill hotdogs, and just hang out before we had the game. Basketball was big but football was a HUGE thing in my town, almost like Grandview. Sports were my life, and they taught me many great lessons. I learned teamwork and how to never give up.
In high school, I went on a mission trip to Chihuahua, Mexico and that trip really changed me. My entire outlook on life changed, I was looking over the city and seeing all the lights and seeing how far everything could go. Then I came to realize everybody is searching for something within themselves, everyone has a brokenness within themselves and everyone is looking for something to please the hurt. After that, I got into music and bible studies and knew I wanted to become a pastor. All with just one outlook of a city it changed me forever.
I’ve lived in Grandview for about a year. I have also gone to church here for 3 years before that I would drive from Waco to Grandview every time I had church. Cara and I were newlyweds and had moved together. We had to learn how to make time for friends and be a couple with school and jobs. It was hard but we did it. In that time I met many great people and lots of people in Grandview. I’m proud to be a part of the community, the church is my home.

My favorite sport to watch and play is football, and my favorite football team is the Dallas Cowboys.

When I lived in a rough neighborhood that wasn't known for being very safe, I had a fluffy dog named Chewy. It was a snowy, sludgy day in the winter, and it made the ground all muddy and horrible. That day I had some errands to run, and as I was opening the door, my dog Chewy decided to run out of the door and down a dark alley and I had to chase after him. I was hesitant to go as well because I didn't think it would be safe, but I did anyway because I loved him. I went down the alley and I watched him jump right into a car full of scary-looking people. He scared them and covered everyone in the car in mud and snow, making them jump, because they weren't expecting a muddy dog to jump into their car. The look on their faces was so funny!
The house that I lived in when I was growing up got burnt up in a forest fire. I grew up in the mountains, so that's where the house was. They wanted to do a controlled burn to get rid of some trees because they were growing too thick. There were houses on the side of the mountains. The people who lived in the town told them not to burn them because the winds were too strong that day, and the fire could become uncontrollable. They did it anyway because they were impatient and arrogant. It burnt down my house and I lost a lot of stuff that was close to me, such as family pictures, birthday photos, all of my souvenirs from places I had visited before, childhood toys, presents and gifts, and all the stuff I grew up using and playing with.

The happiest moment in my life was when I decided to go work in horse boarding stables in Waco, but before that, I was working in California when my husband joined the Marines. That is when I got one of the best jobs ever. I was working at Stepp Stables that are in the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base. During the time I was there, I was teaching little ones how to ride horses all the way to upperclassmen generals in the Marines. We were doing sunset rides from on the beach, all the way to the trail rides in the rocky hills of Oceanside, California, where wildlife was all over. Coyotes, deer, and all other kinds of animals and I loved it the entire time I was working there and so did all of the customers. Because of all of these years of experience in trail riding and with horses in general it has me wanting to eventually open up my own place to teach people to ride and handle horses. I truly loved what I was doing and now I'm back. Luckily I have found another stable just down the road in Waco Texas, called Brazos Bluffs Ranch. As soon as I got there, I shot up in leadership roles. There was no shortage of opportunity for me. There we have nice trail rides in the morning, all throughout the day, and into the night for the sunset rides. They look over the Brazos river from a cliff and have a nice quiet time just for adults, then they go back to the front of Brazos bluff by a short gator ride, then they go home. All in all, working with the animals I love the most and spending time with them all day makes it feel like I never work a day in my life.

I was born and raised in Grandview and lived here for 52 years. My favorite memory is knowing everyone and feeling safe. Knowing everyone was reassuring, to say the least because I know everyone’s got my back if I needed them. For example, I was filling up propane tanks for my husband and the bottles got too heavy for me to carry, but luckily my next-door neighbor was outside and yelled out to see if I needed his help and he did help me. I've known him for a long time and I know that he would do anything for anyone.
Having family members here is so useful when you need someone to talk to. For example, my grandson was recently in a car accident and left him mentally and physically disable and it's putting a lot of pressure on me and my baby girl. Trying to keep up with the flow is a lot harder now than ever. Seeing my baby girl take care of her sons and a daughter going to college, I'm trying to help wherever I can. It is putting a lot of stress on me so I try to talk to my family whenever I can so I can feel better. I know my daughter needs help, but it is getting too much for me and her so I'm trying to help by going ahead and buying a house so they can't get out of the small camping trailer. Seeing her happy would make me the happiest person because she seems so stressed.

“I was 9, in 1991, my parents got divorced, by far, it was the most difficult situation to get over. I am a very open-minded person and very outspoken, and will help anyone that I see that needs help or that needs someone to care for. I like to try new things, change of any sort, and watching fake reality tv shows is what I find rewarding. Having divorced parents is what I struggled with the most only because It was different and at the time I didn’t know what to expect or change. It was hard for me to go through that change only because it was something that I wasn’t ready for. If it weren't for that big new change, I wouldn’t be the same person that I am today. Although divorce for kids can be overwhelming, that was their decision and I had to live with that. I became a very social person after that and I enjoyed change due to the constant moving around. In 2003, I had joined the Air force and around that time I had met my husband who was also in the Air Force. He soon got deployed to Germany in 2012 and we had 2 children at the time and I would say Germany was a change that I was happy to live with. In 2018 we moved back to the U.S.A, I was still in college getting all of my degrees in Germany, I got my teacher’s degree from Texas and started teaching in Grandview, Texas. One of my goals is to get a national teacher certification. I see a lot coming in the future, but in my free time, I like to watch fake reality Tv shows, such as; Kitchen Nightmares, Criminal Minds, etc. In future tense I see myself driving a convertible with a short haircut. People describe me as a very confident, loving, outgoing, free-spirited person."

When I graduated from high school we had a party to celebrate. I went to my friend’s house to go spend some time over there. That day I was talking to her about how important it was for us to be ready on time. The party was on Saturday and today was Friday. So I was getting our outfits ready for tomorrow. Making some last touches for tomorrow. The next day we were up kind of late and getting ready at 9:00. We were all very excited because it was our last party. Then we got ready, curled our hair, and did our makeup. So we went to our friend’s car. When we got there we saw some of our friends. I decided to go and say hi so we all went. Meanwhile, I remember seeing this guy I met while I was a freshman. He was very cute now. Brought so many memories to my head, because I remember going out with him. I was just blown away at how different he was. We all were very different and this may be the last time we would see each other. Many of us were going to take different roads, go to different colleges, and never see each other again. I was very excited about what was yet to come, but this moment was a once in a lifetime experience. So I was going to live it to my fullest. I partied, took some very cool pictures at the photo booth, and had so much fun that day. The next day we were very tired. I started to think about what our future in college was actually going to be. It was definitely going to be complicated. We were going to figure it out and live our life’s the best way we can. This was just the beginning of a good start.

December 10, 2010, it was a normal Saturday and Sydney had a football game she was cheering at and the kids and I went to that. We were turning the carport into a dairy farm to milk cows. My husband Chris was going to the scrapyard to buy materials for a drain pipe. One of Chris’s friends called him and told him that our house was on fire and that they couldn't get the dog out. My husband Chris called me and we met at the burning house. Whenever I got to the house I looked through the kitchen window and all I saw was flames but it had not come through the roof yet. It wasn't long after that the house was engulfed in flames. There were so many thoughts going through my head at that moment. I was so emotional and my kids were emotional as well. The house was built in 1915 and it had old wood and old electricity so we had naked wires going through the house and they said that's probably what caused it. The wind was blowing at least 25 MPH that day because it was December. The fire trucks were sitting 50-75 feet away from the house and they said that it got so hot they had to get new tires and re-painted because it got so hot. My sister's car got totaled but it didn't catch on fire but everything in that car got so hot that it just melted. Chris’s mom had a house that they just built and so we stayed in that house for 2 years until we built this house and we moved into this house on September 12, 2012. Chris had friends that came over and got together and that afternoon gave us $1,000 because the only clothes that we had were the clothes on our back. That night we went to Kohls and we got everyone's clothes. A radio station gave away a shopping spree at Target and someone told our story on that radio station and the radio station gave us gift cards so we could go shopping

When I was still a child, my dad died when I was 4. My grandma also died. I got over it quickly, but I never really got over my dad's death until 4th grade. While my dad was no longer alive, my mom was still looking out for me. I found her to be an important person in my life and decided to look up to her. My mom's life was not easy being a single mother and having to take care of a 4-year-old by herself, but we still managed to get through it. I respect her for being able to hold her own. Today I still look up to her now and I always will. She has played a tremendous role in who I have become and she always will. I love her with all of my heart. Though she may die soon, I know that she will always watch over me and keep me safe in my times of need.
I have been to many places, but they are always better with my best friend. Though, my best friend and I don't really go on adventures together very often, when we do go together most of the time we end up in some sort of bad situation or we have a terrible time like this one adventure in particular. We ended up going to the Big Bend which is located at the Big Bend National Park and we were walking on a path, and we saw there were bears near the trail so I got scared. My friend started walking past the bears and was teasing me for being scared and continued to walk past them. I saw an elderly couple that walked past me so I decided to have the confidence to walk past the bears. We went to eat at a restaurant after to calm my nerves. When we showed up at the restaurant and went inside people ended up looking at us weirdly, and they were starting to discriminate against us and they were asking what our kind was doing there so we decided to go find another place to eat at. The restaurant that we went to after the problem was a lot better because nothing like that happened there so my friend and I were able to enjoy an amazing tasting hamburger.

When I was a little kid I have always wanted to be a Firefighter, but as I got older, I changed my mind. I decided I wanted to go into the Army. I enlisted, and I have traveled all around the world. I have been to three different parts of Asia 11 different parts of Germany and Europe and Mexico also the U.S. During the Army training my favorite part of the Army was shooting guns. Whenever I shot the guns I just wanted to hit my target and that's what I did. The coolest thing I have done in the army was I was in this simulation in battle and there were about 3,000 people on my team and 3,000 people on the other team. I was one of the last people still alive and I had to go up against about 50 people and we won the battle. When we won I got the opportunity to meet the general and the captain as a reward and they gave us medals as an appreciation of our duty and sacrifices. When I was completed with all my training and duties I went back home I started a family. I have two boys. I got married to the love of my life and we started a family in Grandview, and I started my own business called Hattleburg Consulting. Living in Grandview is fine but where I want to live is in Bozeman, Montana. I want to live in the mountains there. Some of the pet peeves I have are bad drivers and chewing ice. Bad drivers are everywhere and they are my biggest pet peeve. If I had superpowers I would have time travel so I could eliminate covid-19 and that way not many people die due to the vires and so that way Donald Trump would still be president and that there will be no more lockdowns and that way we could still live 2020. My other superpower would be mind control like we all wanted to we could all go to restaurants and eat all our favorite foods. My favorite food is Mexican meat and garlic potatoes.

I remember when my sister, Erin, and I were little girls. We used to share a bedroom in our family home. We had beds on opposite sides of the room. One night it was really dark in our room and I decided to play a trick on my sister. She got up out of bed to go to the bathroom. When she was gone I got out of my bed and went to her bed. Her bed was up against the wall so I laid up against the wall. I made myself as flat as possible against the wall. I waited quietly for her to come back. She came back to bed and I waited a few seconds. Then I laid on top of her and she got so scared and screamed so loud! That was a long time ago and we still laugh about it!
My husband and his family used to be in the cattle business years ago. We raised cattle for beef and for the market. When his family decided to sell all of their cattle, Kirk had the opportunity to change his career and follow his dream. He had always wanted to be a firefighter. So we decided to move to Midland, Texas where he could pursue his dream. We already knew some people in Midland so it wasn't completely new to us. We found a nice home and worshiped at Fairmont Park Church of Christ. I became a realtor/construction manager for DR Horton. When I had gone to college I was in the animal science program because I wanted to be a vet. During college, I needed to work so I found a job working for a real estate company and decided to get my real estate license. That started my interest in real estate and I went from there and became involved with new home construction. We lived in Midland for about 8 years then decided we wanted to move back to Grandview because that's where all of our family lived and where our family history was centered from.
