I started my teaching career through Planned Parenthood as a Middle School Health Educator Intern. I graduated from California State University of Northridge earning my Bachelors of Science in Family Consumer Science Education the following semester. Two months after graduation, I started Pepperdine's GSEP program and student teaching as a Health/Life Skills teacher at Sherman Oaks Center for Enriched Studies and Van Nuys High School for the next year.
Upon earning my Masters of Arts in Education and Teaching Credential from Pepperdine's Graduate School of Education and Psychology, I was hired by Glendale Unified School District to teach Consumer Science classes to 7th & 8th grade students at Rosemont Middle School in La Crescenta. I taught at Rosemont Middle School since 2007, developing rigorous, standards-based & technology infused Nutrition/Health & Fashion Production classes. Aside from teaching students, I was the Department Chair for Electives, Chair of School Site Council and an Instructional Cabinet member at Rosemont Middle School.
In my community, I was involved with Ararat Charter School Association as a member since 2010 and soon after a Trustee the following year. I worked with ACSA on opening a charter school as well as fundraising until 2013. This experience inspired me to go back to Pepperdine to earn my Masters in Administration & Credential in hopes of one day leading my own school. Although I did not continue on to open my own charter school, I did open a non-profit organization, Bridge 2 Light Foundation, and made it a mission to better the lives of the poor, impoverished families internationally.
In 2018, I applied and received California's Secondary Specialized Program Grant to start the Careers in Education Program at Herbert Hoover High School. Along with Life Management, I taught, Careers in Education Introduction, Careers in Education Principles and Careers in Education Practice classes. In addition to teaching classes, I serve as the TUPE (Tobacco Use & Prevention Education) Coordinator, and a teacher representative on School Site Council for Hoover High School.
In Spring of 2023, I completed the 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training & SEL*F Program with Breathe for Change. I hope to bring my knowledge to the classroom, school and community of Glendale.
During the 2024-2025 school year, I became the WASC Coordinator and led my school through the accreditation process. I also started teaching English Language Development classes.
