Geography

Geography - Curriculum Intent

At Gurnard Primary School Geography is a planned, developmental programme, which is delivered through a variety of platforms to ensure children have the opportunity to learn about different places, people, resources, environments and how they can have an effect on their planet. We want children to be investigative and ask questions as well as appreciating important events, national and international issues so they become informed citizens about the planet and the world we live in.

Children are taught specific topics each term through an enquiry-based approach. This allows them to delve deeper and identify and appreciate the different cultures and history, including the influence of landforms. climate and environmental matters. Furthermore, they identify specific geographical vocabulary so they are able to describe and compare key aspects.
