In Art & Design we have integrated a range of strategies into the lesson structure and delivery to support the inclusion of all learners within learning. This ensures that all of the children at Gurnard Primary School receive a broad and balanced curriculum that is suitable to the needs of all.

Take one picture project -The Finding of Moses
As a school, we took part in the Take One Picture. The photos below show how the painting was used as inspiration for a range creative projects throughout the school. Each class decided on a theme to explore, namely: leadership, journeys, rivers and baskets.
Year 3 looked at the work of Kobra, a Brazilian street artist. They copied their own poses onto painted cardboard and added colour with felt tips and vinyl.
Year 4 looked at the work of Julian Opie. They transposed their own poses onto felt, cut them out and used a contrasting felt background for their artwork. They then added detail using scraps of felt.
Year 5 looked at the work of Any Warhol. They were then given a lien drawing of the painting. Using transfer paper they deconstructed the line drawing, by tracing over it with the transfer, choosing different aspects to focus on. They then added colour with water colour pencils.
Year 6 looked at the work of Banksy., noting that he often placed everyday items in unusual places. The children were given line drawing of the painting. They then added interesting images from magazines and to their drawing.
