Would you like to spice up a lesson and make the lesson both interactive and also more independent for students to explore a topic on their own? Some teachers are finding success with HyperDocs, Google Docs, with interactive elements, designed to replace the worksheet method of delivering instruction. Teachers are using these to create digital lessons. By sharing a link to a HyperDoc, you can get students thinking, exploring, collaborating, and creating all on their own, shifting you from the lecturer to listener. You are now able to personalize the learning experience and better connect with students.
HyperDocs are pretty easy to create and can be loaded into Google Classroom where students can work on the HyperDoc either as they have time, or as a classroom activity.
HyperDocs can be created as an interactive Slide Deck (made in Google Slides) or an interactive Doc (made in Google Docs. Check out this wonderful website with lots of examples: http://hyperdocs.co/

Lastly, Nicole Beardsley created this Slide Deck for her students to explain how to use hyperdocs, but it’s a wonderful tool to learn more about hyperdocs! https://docs.google.com/a/gunnisonschools.net/presentation/d/1TjswAQaVd3r41XoMNKIZp9PsDWw4Vcf2iMqijH1YggY/edit?usp=sharing
As always, here is a VIDEO on creating a basic HyperDoc using Google Docs.
As an ADDED BONUS - Thanks Susan Barrett!!! This great app is super for turning worksheets into a typable document. It’s called SnapType. Please take a look at the VIDEO to find out more. If you have students that have poor handwriting, you’ll really want to check this out!! Just snap a picture, share with your student(s) and they can type away!
