This is the LAST Tech Tuesday Google Tip for the school year! I hope you’ve enjoyed these and hope that you’ll check them out over the summer. Remember, if you ever have any questions on ANY of the topics, please don’t hesitate to email me and I will get back to you or help you figure out ways to use these wonderful tools in your classroom (or even your personal life!)
I think for this last week, I will go over a few of my favorite extensions. If you haven’t tried these, please check them out a few at a time over the summer when you get a chance! Oh - and check out the last item on the list for some very wonderful LAB tools in your G-Suite world!
VIDEO TUTORIAL on how to get an EXTENSION ON GOOGLE CHROME!!!
- One Tab - If you’re anything like me, you have a bunch of tabs open on your web browser at any one time. I never want to close them, or even bookmark them, so here’s a better solution. Click your ONE TAB icon and all your tabs appear conveniently on one tab. Now you have only one tab open. You can restore any of the tabs at any time or even delete. The best part is the One Tab saves your history of open tabs so you can access them weeks or months later! VIDEO
- Extensity - Extensity is another wonderful extension that allows you to turn extensions off and on with an easy click of a button instead of the time consuming settings - extensions - finding the extension - and disabling it! VIDEO
- Read&Write for Google Chrome - If you haven’t seen this toolbar, especially in teaching reading and writing (with any subject), then give this a try. There are so many neat things you can do with this toolbar including: prediction, a dictionary, a picture dictionary for words, a screenshot reader, audio maker, screen mask, talk and type, translator, highlighters with a collection tool for all your highlights, and more! These tools are so nice to help your struggling readers or even your not so struggling readers and writers. Anyone - elementary through high school could find uses for this tool. VIDEO
- Share to Classroom - This extension allows you to immediately share a URL with your class! VIDEO
- Google Keep Chrome Extension - Now your students can use the Internet to find information, take notes on this information in Google Keep by clicking a button to access Keep, and then using these Google Keep notes for a presentation or paper they may be writing! VIDEO
- G-Math - For all you math wizards, here is an easy way to type in formulas, etc. Even if you’re dealing with elementary math, G-Math can help you easily write problems. Students can also use this to create their own equations! Also, here is a link to the 10 best Chrome apps for math teachers: http://www.educatorstechnology.com/2015/02/10-of-best-chrome-apps-for-math-teachers.html VIDEO
- GifIT! - Did you ever wonder how people make their own GIFs? Well wonder no more! Make your own exciting gifs to go with a lesson or just for fun! Take any YouTube video and make a short gif! Loads of fun! VIDEO
- Google Tone - For all of you Chromebook users, Google Tone with broadcast a tone for your class and immediately connect your students with the webpage you would like them to access! I personally haven’t had much luck with this one, but improvements happen every day! You found a great website in the middle of a lesson. Click Google Tone and a tone goes out in your classroom and the website appears for your students! Ain’t technology great?!?!? VIDEO
- LABS - OK. Labs aren’t extensions but I’m so excited to show you some of these labs! Just watch this VIDEO! (a teaser - have you ever sent an email that you wish you could take back? Now you can - see the VIDEO!!!)
