Good Morning!
Today, I just want to catch you up on a few of the recent changes with G-Suite.
1. Google Keep is now A PART of the G-Suite in schools. Remember that Google Keep is an excellent way for students to keep notes, copy web addresses, and copy and paste research to keep as part of their school account. Then, these notes can be used later as students are writing papers or doing projects. Google Keep saves notes, allows organization of notes, along with many other uses. Please see the post on the GAFE website, or the G-Suite website on using Google Keep. Here are the ways Google Keep is integrated into G-Suite- NEW GOOGLE KEEP VIDEO
2. Brian Ash shared a great new feature for Google Classroom. If you are a STEM teacher, that means science, technology, engineering, or math teacher, you may have used PHET simulations in your classes from the University of Colorado. https://phet.colorado.edu/en/simulations/category/new. There are many for elementary teachers as well as older students. Now, if you’d like to add a sim to your Google Classroom, on the PHET sim, just click the Google Classroom icon (below) link on the page. You can add a sim as an assignments, supplementary materials, or homework! It’s super easy and a great way for students to watch these simulations multiple times if they wish! 3. The research feature in Google Docs has gone away. However, it has been replaced with EXPLORE. It may not be as easy to use as the Research feature, but it still will cite articles. Explore will also help find more information about a topic as you type. Unfortunately, at this time, Explore does not cite images, but this will probably change. I’ve got a great video on EXPLORE in Google Docs. I’ve already done an EXPLORE in Slides as part of an earlier video which you can access HERE.
Google is constantly updating and changing its products! Yes, that means we need to relearn, but in most cases, the changes are improvements. Remember, you can always send Google feedback on its products. Here is how to do that! Just go to the doc or whatever you are working on and on the toolbar, find help. Then go to Report a Problem. Type in your suggestion and include a screenshot if you wish and click SUBMIT. Here’s a video!
