As we start heading into the last quarter of the year, I hope to touch on some subjects you may think about over the summer! There are so many wonderful Googley things to share, I can’t decide from week to week!!
Personal Learning Networks (PLN) are the way to go for quality professional development for you!! As teachers, we are always looking for ways to improve our craft. One AMAZING way is through Google+. (Disclaimer – you can’t get credits using Google+, but it is a super place to ask questions, get ideas, or just learn what others are doing in their classrooms!)
You can join a Google+ group with your own personal Google account, but you can also be a part of a Google+ group through our school domain. Google+ is turned ON for all staff at this time. Students DO NOT currently have Google+ accounts through their school accounts. There is an age limit for students.
There are so many communities to join and follow. Please watch the VIDEO to find out how to access your Google+ accounts and how to use them!
With your Gunnison Schools Google+ account, professional communities and people are where it’s at! If you’d like to follow other personal interests, please do this on a personal Google account you’ve set up. As with all social networking, having separate accounts for personal and professional business is a good idea!
Also, Mandy Harris created a GWSD-only community on Google+ for CKLA implementation. If you’d like to join, get your Google+ profile started and search for Gunni-Talk CKLA. These types of communities can be a wonderful way to connect with the teachers you see every day, but have little time to really talk about issues or concerns you have with curriculum. I invite you to join her community (GES) or create one of your own to discuss practices, etc. with other teachers in our district and beyond!!
