Kaizena is a wonderful Add On for Google Docs. This enables teachers to easily send students voice memos as feedback and also create lessons, rubrics, and skills. Remember, this is an add on and NOT an extension!!
- First - get the Kaizena Add On through Google Docs. Here's how to do this: VIDEO
- Next, when you are in student work, start the Kaizena Add on and add comments to a student's work.
- Open Kaizena in Google Docs.
- Once you open a student's work, you'll have to click on this little icon to actually open the assignment in Docs. Right now, Kaizena doesn't work inside Classroom. It's not a big deal because you still have the same grading and other options. (See Icon above and to the right.)
- Click on a place in the student work and then choose what you'd like to do: voice, skill, lesson, or text message. I usually select some text and create the comment on that text and add a highlight so they know where to look.
- You can change the color of your feedback. (Optional)
- After adding skills, you can also add a rubric. (Optional)
- When you're finished, make sure to RETURN the work to the student.
For Students to access your comments:
- Students must also get the Kaizena add on. You'll need to walk them through this process. See the VIDEO.
- Once this is done, they can go to classroom and open the assignment and find that you've returned it. They will also need to click the icon to open the assignment in Google Docs. Then when they open the doc, they need to start Kaizena and they will see your comments.
Right now, Kaizena only works with Google Docs – not sheets, slides, or any other Google product.
