Today, we will look at a couple of menus that don't really have much that you won't know.
EDIT MENU:
This menu doesn't really have anything that exciting that you don't know about. However, the cool thing is if you forget the keyboard commands, you can find them here on this menu.
Another useful tool that you may possibly not know about or have forgotten about is the FIND AND REPLACE tool! I use this all the time. You can find something in your document and replace it with something else. For example, you misspelled a name and you had this name in the document 15 times. With one command, you can change every instance or change them one at a time. VIDEO
VIEW MENU:
Generally, we are in the Print Layout. But if you choose MODE, you have the options of Editing, Suggesting, and Viewing Mode.
Editing Mode - This is the normal mode we are in when in Google Docs.
Suggesting Mode - Here, you can make suggestions for someone instead of actually making the change. This way, other collaborators can see the suggestion and either change based on your suggestion or discard the suggestion. Here is a detailed explanation of Suggesting Mode. ***Pro-Tip*** - As a teacher, you don't want to go in an suggest a bunch of edits for your students on their paper. They simply have to click ACCEPT to take all your hard work and make it theirs. The better option is to create Comments and have them make the changes themselves. VIDEO on SUGGESTION MODE.
Viewing Mode - In this mode, you can't make any changes to the document.
Show ruler is defaulted. If you don't want the ruler, you can turn it off here.
Show document outline - This is a handy tool to teach students. In this view, you will see an outline on the left side of your paper. However, in order for this to work, you must have headings within your paper.
Show equation toolbar - This is handy if you need to type in math or science equations! Makes typing math problems simple and neat! The toolbar pops up right underneath your other toolbars. VIDEO
Full Screen - This simply shows your document as a full screen without any toolbars at all. To get out of full screen, hit the esc button.
