Google Calendar is being used for most calendars in the district. However, many people are still a little confused when using Google Calendar. Here are some basics in Google Calendar. If you'd like other topics in Calendar, please fill out this FORM.
Creating a New Calendar
1.
- On the MY CALENDARS section (1), click on the little arrow to the right of the MY CALENDARS and choose CREATE NEW CALENDAR. Here, you can name your calendar, give a description, and even share this calendar. If you want to put the calendar on a website, you'll need to make it public.
Adding Gunnison Resource Calendars to your Calendar
2.
- On the OTHER CALENDARS section (2), click on the little arrow to the right of the OTHER CALENDARS and choose BROWSE INTERESTING CALENDARS. Then click on MORE. Then on RESOURCES FOR GUNNISONSCHOOLS.NET, and then SUBSCRIBE to the calendars you'd like to be able to see!
- This is nice so you can see who may have a specific resource checked out. Teachers will either put specific times, or the periods they need the devices. If another teacher has the resource you need checked out, you can check with that teacher to see if you could possibly share. SEE THE SECTION ON ADDING EVENTS BELOW (#3)
Adding Events including Events with Resources
3.
- On the above picture with 3, you can create events. There are 2 ways to do this.
- You can hit CREATE and this is the preferred method. This will take you to page where you can create your event.
- On 1, put your name
- 2 the date and times you need the devices. Also remember that you can change the times. Please don't use all day if you don't need the devices all day.
- 3 Here is where you need to double check what calendar this event is going to.
- 4 Rooms - IMPORTANT!! Here is where you'll need to choose the resource you need. If you don't see your resource, that means it's already booked! DON'T ADD IT IN ANYWAY. That cancels out the person that originally signed it out and then we'll know who the first person to sign up was. :) TALK TO THE PERSON WHO ALREADY HAS THE RESOURCE SIGNED OUT AND SEE IF YOU CAN WORK OUT A SOLUTION. IF NOT, MAKE OTHER PLANS!
- 5 SAVE - This is important. Most Google products auto save - CALENDAR DOES NOT!!
This is just a basic tutorial. Also, you can always watch the VIDEO. Here is another VIDEO on organizing your calendars. To organize, you can just look at one calendar at a time, change a calendar's color, set notifications, and even find a co-worker's calendar. Also, here is a tutorial from Google: https://gsuite.google.com/learning-center/products/calendar/get-started/
