Last Calendar submission for a while!
Lastly, let's look at all the calendar settings! Each calendar has settings, but the overall Google Calendar also has settings.
To access the settings, there are two separate places. Each calendar has its own settings, and you can access them from each calendar. The small arrow on the right side of the calendar and then go to Calendar Settings.
However, there are other general settings for the Calendar App. To access these, on the calendar page, there is a little gear in the top right of the page. Click this and go to Settings.
- The first tab in settings is GENERAL. Here, you can change a lot of items including: date and time format, event length default, your default view (month, week, etc.), working hours, day of the week your calendars begin, and many other items. Please check them out!!
- The second tab is Calendars. Here, you can see ALL of the calendars you subscribe to and own. You can edit your notifications for each calendar here, show it in your list of calendars or not, subscribe or unsubscribe from any calendar, and look at the share settings.
- The third tab is your Mobile Setup. Here, you can connect your mobile phone for text messages.
- The last tab is LABS. Labs are prototypes of features that may or may not become a part of Google Calendar. Labs are only around if they are popular. They may be removed at any time, or they may become a permanent part of the calendar app! Check these out. You may find something useful!
Another Useful Feature is to add others' events to your calendar!
Sometimes, someone shares a calendar with you and you don't need to know EVERY event. However, the information is critical to your building. Principals sometimes share calendars and put all events happening in the building on these: every meeting, assessment, etc. You can pick and choose which events are relevant to you personally and add just those events to YOUR CALENDAR! Here's how!!
- Find a calendar you'd like to pull events from. Then click the little arrow on the right of this calendar and click on Display Only This Calendar.
- Find an event that you need to put on your own calendar and click on this event.
- A box pops up and in the bottom left corner, there is a link that says "copy to my calendar". Click that and you'll have the event on your calendar!!
