Many people have asked about Google Photos. This week, we'll take a look at Google Photos on your computer. Next week, we'll take a look at how photos works with your phone and then your Google Drive.
To open Google Photos, log in to your school Google account and go to the waffle. Scroll down until you see Google Photos.
You may or may not have anything in your photos.
On the left, there are options: Assistant, Photos, Albums, Sharing, and Photo Books.
Assistant - Here you can create Albums, Shared Albums, a Photo book, a Collage, or an animation. Play with the options. The photo books are Google's answer to Shutterfly books. They do cost and must be shipped.
Photos - Here is where all your photos are stored. This is also where you can Upload Photos from your computer to Google Photos. These are all searchable by date, but also location if you had location services turned on when you took the photos (on your phone).
Albums - Do you have a lot of photos and want to organize them? This is where you create albums and add photos to them.
Sharing - Here, you can create albums to share with people. You can invite people to collaborate or share links to your albums. If you've created a website, you can put your albums on your site!
Photo Books - Create a photo book to remember an event. See above.
Even though you have unlimited access for Google Photos in your school account, please only put photos that are related to school in this drive. If you should ever leave the school, you may inadvertently lose all your photos if your account is deleted and you haven't switched them over to a personal account.
If you take a lot of personal photos on your phone, think about signing up for a free personal Google account.
