The 9th graders in their World History classes participated in National History Day @ Gulliver.
Each year, students around the world discover history through National History Day® (NHD) by creating historical research projects. Through the process, students develop skills in communication, project management, and historical thinking.
"This year students participated at the Florida History Day State competition in Tallahassee and we are so proud of them! They conducted themselves like consummate professionals defending their research to a series of judges.
Alexandrine Malval Deeb - defended her paper entitled, “The Haitian Revolution and the End of the Atlantic Slave Trade” and discussed her personal connection to the topic.
Thomas Kellogg, Nicolas Ribera, and Patrick Castro Alves - Shared the unique perspective of their documentary entitled, “The Irish Potato: A Famine in the Making” and discussed their process.
Logan Garcia and Matias Akerman - Explained the rigorous research behind their exhibit entitled, “The Fall of Constantinople” and this event’s role in the emergence of the Italian Renaissance.
We are so pleased to share that Logan and Matias placed third in their category out of an impressive (and a little intimidating) array of exhibits!! This is a first for Gulliver.
We are super excited!!"
