As her children listen, a Kurdish woman tells the story of her husband’s abduction by the Iraqi military. She carries his identification papers, but she’s had no news of his fate. They now live at a United Nations refugee camp near the Iranian border. Saddam Hussein’s 1988 anfal campaigns killed at least 100,00 people, seven percent of the Kurdish population, in seven months.
