Committee Charge: To create a safer space for staff of color to gather, share, and advocate.
Who are We? Under the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Staff of Color is a group of self identified employees who are racial and ethnic minorities at Guilford College. These staff are underrepresented on Guilford's campus. Although some staff of color may have teaching responsibilities, the majority of their work is in non-teaching roles. Review Staff of Color objectives in the next section.
How do I Join? There is no formal membership process, other than your presence. Any staff of color should feel absolutely welcomed to attend any staff of color meeting. You may also contact Sonalini Sapra or Krishauna Hines-Gaither (or any Staff of Color) if you would like more information regarding this group.
Background: Following a meeting with Dr. Amanda Kemp on March 12, 2018 with staff of color, several participants expressed interest in getting together more often as a staff of color collective in order to build community, share ideas and experiences, and address challenges. The first meeting was held on May 14, 2019.
The objectives of the Staff of Color meeting group follow. Voted on April 2, 2018 by Staff of Color.
