Nicknamed "The Silent Thief of Sight" for its imperceptibility, open-angle glaucoma is a chronic eye disease caused by injury and damage to the optic nerve in the brain. Whether that damage occurs through lack of enough blood flow, radiation, or trauma, the effects go unnoticed until vision is permanently damaged. If gone too long without treatment, this disease can lead to permanent blindness. I'm interested in learning about the available treatment options for this seemingly devastating disease. Glaucoma is the second-leading cause of blindness in the world because it goes undetected, thus, further research is required on this topic.
