Guided Journey Founder's Story
Guided Journey Founder's Story
More than twenty years ago, two coworkers met while doing work that would change our lives forever.
We were both supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities, and day after day we witnessed not only the challenges people faced, but also their incredible strengths, potential, and desire to live meaningful, connected lives. Through this work, we began to notice something important: there was a real need for higher-quality, person-centered day support services — services that truly honored each individual as a whole person.
That shared experience planted the seed for what would eventually become our organization.
Over the years, we saw how powerful it can be when people are supported in ways that go beyond a schedule or a building. We believe day support should be about being part of the community, forming genuine friendships, and building relationships that last. It should be about learning new skills, discovering new interests, and having opportunities to grow in confidence and independence.
Our approach is rooted in community. We support individuals in getting out into the world — volunteering, participating in local activities, exploring interests, and building meaningful connections. At the same time, we focus on helping each person develop practical life skills, promote independence, and support overall health and well-being in ways that are meaningful to them.
Most importantly, we believe in quality — quality relationships, quality support, and quality outcomes. Every individual we serve is unique, and we are committed to meeting people where they are, listening to their goals, and supporting them in living fulfilling, self-directed lives.
What began as a shared passion between two colleagues has grown into a mission-driven organization dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to thrive — not just in our program, but in their communities.
We are honored to do this work, and grateful for the trust families place in us every day.
