Student Support at Washington

If you are struggling with your classes, there are many ways to get additional help at Washington.  Please understand that your teacher is the best person to first reach out to, whether that is an e-mail, simply asking a question in class, or of course stopping by his/her class before or after school.  However, there are many other opportunities to get the academic help you need.  Please take some time to look at the sites below, and then take the next step to participate in the help being offered!

8th Hours, Wednesday EOP Schedule

First thing's first: your teachers are here for you!  Meet with your teachers during "8th hour" after school, and/or during Wednesday "Early Opportunity Period" (EOP).  Click here for the schedule and tips.

The Ram Center is located in the media center and is open before and after school.  Here, a student can get tutoring, use a computer, or just have a quiet  place to do work.

See the Ram Center website with information about their support, tutoring, and new location.

Rams After Hours

"Rams After Hours" is a program where teachers provide academic  support  in the media center from 3:30-5:30 Monday through Thursday, and also on Saturdays from 9:00-12:00!  Simply show up to get help from our teachers in a variety of subjects.

Click here to see the schedule of which teachers will be available on certain days.

ASU Gear Up stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs.  This is a program at Washington in partnership with ASU that supports students in many ways.  Please see Mr. Payan-Noriega in the computer lab for academic support.

Grand Canyon University's Learning Lounge is offering free virtual tutoring in reading, writing, math or science.  Use this link to find out more information and schedule your tutoring session.

ACT Test Preparation

All juniors will take the ACT in April!  This is a national test that is accepted by all 4-year universities in the U.S. and it is the new Arizona state assessment at the high school level.  Students will be taking the online version of this test.

ACT Prep Opportunities

Washington will be offering ACT prep classes later in the year as we get closer to the April testing session.

In the meantime, anyone who wants to get a jumpstart can access the following websites to get additional knowledge and practice for the ACT:

Get information, take practice tests, and learn more by visiting the GUHSD testing site for students.

Take an ACT online practice test on your Chromebook.  This will mirror exactly what you will experience taking the ACT online.
