Sunnyslope High School Cheer Team
Welcome to SHS Spiritline! Varsity Cheer is a year-round sport. Varsity athletes cheer at both football & basketball games and compete at AIA competitions.
JV Cheer is a fall sport running from August-November.
Cheer brings Viking spirit to numerous events at Sunnyslope High School, including football games, pep assemblies, and other school spirit activities. Cheer is open to students of all skill levels with both a JV and Varsity program.
Cheer is a combination of dance, gymnastics, and stunting. Varsity Cheerleaders are able to learn advanced choreography, complete back handsprings, and have a high level of experience stunting.

Head Coach - Alexandra Hamill
Coach Hamill has been leading Sunnyslope Cheer since 2023 and brings energy, passion, and school pride to everything she does.
A Sunnyslope alum (Class of 2007) and current English teacher on campus, she is committed to helping her athletes grow as leaders, teammates, and performers. Coach Hamill loves creating a positive, hardworking team culture where athletes can challenge themselves, build confidence, and represent Sunnyslope with pride.
Assistant Coach - Yamilett Ballesteros
Coach Yami has been a cheerleader since she was 6 years old and through high school. She is also a graduate of Washington High School. She loves to teach her athletes dances, stunts, and cheer techniques. She is also in nursing school at Phoenix College/ASU.
Assistant Coach - Mark Calacci
Coach Mark has been involved in all-star cheer and competitive dance from the age of 6 through 17, building a strong foundation in performance, teamwork, and discipline. With a background in leadership and team development, he brings both energy and structure to everything he does. Mark is passionate about mentoring athletes, teaching technique, and helping individuals grow in confidence and skill while fostering a positive and supportive environment.
Choreographer - Meagan Marmon
Coach Meagan is an Apollo High School alum with over a decade of experience teaching and choreographing. Since 2019, she has worked with the Sunnyslope Cheer squad, bringing creative routines and a strong foundation in technique as a guest choreographer. When she’s not choreographing, she’s chasing after her two kids—so high energy and multitasking are kind of her specialty.
