Ms. Jennifer Wright

Jennifer Wright began her teaching career in the Glendale Union High School District at Cortez High School in 2002 as a Social Studies Teacher. She held the Department Chair position from 2005-2010 for the Social Studies Department. In the fall of 2010, she moved into the Literacy Coach position, which she held through the spring of 2013. She moved to Moon Valley in the fall of 2013. She is also the Assistant Varsity Softball Coach on campus and is a consultant for the College Board. Ms. Wright is also working towards earning her National Board Certification.

Ms. Wright has a bachelor's degree in Broadfield Social Science with a Teaching Certification from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and a Master of Education Degree in Educational Technology from Northern Arizona University.

Ms. Melanie Allen

Passion. Long ago Melanie Allen learned that one must follow their passions and Melanie has found her passion in teaching and advising at Moon Valley High School. Melanie truly believes that every student can learn and is continually seeking opportunities that will allow for each student to learn and flourish. This is Melanie's fifth year teaching AP English Language and Composition and each year her students have exceeded the global pass rate for the AP English Language test. During the summer, she served as an AP Reader for the College Board, which allowed her to hone her skills even more as an AP teacher. Additionally, Melanie advises the school newspaper, The Rocket Reporter and is the school's literacy coach and ELA department chair. Outside of Moon Valley, she serves as the Arizona Interscholastic Press Association’s (AIPA) president. Melanie graduated with both her B.A. in Communications and her M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University.

Mrs. Kim Thomas

Kim Thomas teaches BC Calculus in person at Moon Valley and virtually to other students across the Glendale Union High School District. She also has taught AB Calculus and grades the AP Calculus exams each June for College Board. She is a National Board Certified Teacher for AYA Mathematics and is the sponsor of the Moon Valley Mu Alpha Theta Math Honors Society. Mrs. Thomas is very passionate about understanding and communicating about all things math. You should know that there is no such thing as “over” in mathematics. Think about it, where is the “over” button?
