Meet the Library Team

Librarian : Carolyn Teschler

Educational Background

After teaching English at Santana for fourteen years, I transitioned into the role of Librarian in 2007. This "job" is a match made in heaven blending my love of literature and research with that of helping both staff and students. I work to develop our reading selections for all students- providing quality literature that spans many tastes and reading levels. I want to make the library a place for students to meet their many needs which may include studying, finding a great book, and gathering with friends.

When I'm not at the library, I enjoy walking my dogs, reading (of course), doing yoga, gardening, and working on stained glass.

Library Technician: Michelle Winslow

My "partner in crime", Michelle Winslow came to Santana in 2012 after working at Monte Vista as their Library Technician.  Among her many talents in the library, she processes new books to get them out to students, helps students in anything and everything  dealing with technology, and keeps things running smoothly since the Library can be a bit crazy busy at times.  She has a wonderful sense of humor and enjoys pilates, spending down time with her dog, and riding her bike down at the beach.

Library Policies and Procedures

Because the library is an extension of the classroom, it operates under the same basic guidelines.  To help keep the library a clean, safe, comfortable area for all to enjoy, the following applies during ALL school hours even if a student does not have a class:

The library is NOT the place to have a snack or lunch. No, not even your drink from Starbucks.  Leave food/drink in your bag or on the tray at the entrance.  Drinks with a screw-top lid are OK.

The library is NOT the place for singing, soccer practice, or a friendly game of chase. If you are here during class, you should be studying, reading, or working on assignments.

The library IS the place to be courteous to others and use good manners.  Use earbuds, do not interrupt or distract others working, and use your inside voice.  Be RESPECTFUL.

The library is NOT your bedroom & the librarian is not your personal maid. Clean up after yourself. Put things back where you found them, push your chair in, and leave a clean workspace.
