Chipotle Fundraiser

When: Tuesday 9/11/18

Where: Chipotle located at 9828 Mission Gorge Rd, Santee, CA 92071

Time: 5:00- 9:00 pm

We are going to do a bbq/beach/volleyball day on Saturday, September 29th from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at Coronado beach (2000 Trident Way San Diego CA 92155) for all players and their families, so please mark your calendars!


Team Bonding

We have a team bonding event this Friday 8/24 at the San Diego State volleyball game. Please see the information below for more details.

Location: The game is at Peterson Gym which is located on 55th Street, north of the Aztec Athletics Center on the west side of the SDSU campus.

Cost: The players are on pass list so they do not need to pay to attend the game. Parents and family members, if you would like to join you are more than welcome but you will need to pay the entry fee of $5, cash only.

Parking: Parking is $2 per hour in any of the parking structures. Please display the receipt on the dashboard of your vehicle as any vehicles without a valid receipt displayed are subject to citation by SDSU Campus Police.

ID: Players, you will need to bring some form of ID to be let in for free as they will be referencing the list I provided of our athletes. Please do not forget your ID's!

Time:If you could all meet in front of Peterson gym at 6:30 pm that would be great. Once everyone is there, we will check in as a group and sit together. If you have any questions please let me know.


Team Bonding and Souplantation Fundraiser Thursday

I wanted to remind you that we have a combined team bonding event for ALL levels on Thursday from 3:00 - 5:00 in the SHS gym. Players, you do not need athletic clothing but please wear comfortable clothing/shoes to run around in.

After the team bonding activities, we have a team dinner/fundraiser at Souplantation in La Mesa. (9158 Fletcher Pkwy., 619-462-4232). Families and friends are encouraged to join! Here is the flyer needed for the fundraiser. I will also pass out some copies on Thursday before we head over there around 5:00 pm. Please note, you have to bring the flyer AND have to purchase a drink with your meal for us to get the credit. Also, the back room is reserved for the players and coaches. Hope to see you there!


Snack Bar

We are in need of volunteers to work and donate to our snack bar for our home non-league games. (ASB does our home league games). I have attached a schedule below if you could please sign up to work our snack bar we would really appreciate it. Varsity parents typically work freshman/JV games while freshman/JV parents work the Varsity games so you can watch your student play.

If donating we would like the items by Friday, August 17th so we can have the items in time for our first home game on August 22nd. Items needed are as follows:

Nacho Cheese , Tortilla chips, Large Gatorade, Small Gatorade, Water, Soda, Candy Bars, Sour Punch, Skittles, Starbursts, Red vine, Ring pops, apple caramel pops, rice crispy treats, individual bags of popcorn, Individual Bags of chips, Paper bowls for nachos, Napkins

Tryouts for 2018 are complete. See the team roster page showing teams. Congratulations to the players who were selected, we are very excited to have you all as a part of our program!

1. You can access our team store here. It is not mandatory to purchase anything but it is available for players, parents, and fans that would like to buy any girls volleyball spirit wear for our upcoming season. Please note the store will be open today through 8/12/18. It will close at 12:01am on 8/13/18 so we can get the spirit wear in a timely manner.

2. We have our first team bonding event on Sunday, August 5 from 8:00-10:00 am at Cowels Mountain Trail (San Diego, 92119). Please be there by 8:00 am sharp, we will meet near the restroom building at the base of Cowels Mountain. Wear athletic clothing, sunscreen, and bring plenty of water as it is 3 miles round trip.

3. Practice starts Monday 8/6. Freshman/JV will be in the gym from 3:00-5:00 PM and Varsity will follow from 5:00-7:00 PM. Both teams will practice Monday-Friday this week. Bring plenty of water as we will start conditioning.

4. Please note our practices are going to be closed to allow players focus on what the coaches would like them to learn. Parents, thank you for your understanding.

5. There is a mandatory player and parent meeting on Monday, August 6th at 7:00 PM in the gym. We will go over our expectations and philosophies for the season to ensure we are all on the same page. We will also provide important information on the upcoming season such as calendars, fundraisers, team store, and volunteering options.

Other Notes:

  • Players MUST have a physical and athletic clearance to tryout. No make up tryouts.
  • Please see the information below or visit the Physical and Athletic Clearance tab.
  • Cuts will be made daily. You MUST attend all 3 days of tryouts at designated times above if asked to come back.
  • Review tryout rubric below to understand what skills are expected at each level of play.
  • To encourage focus and lessen the pressure, our tryouts are “closed” - Only players may attend. Parents and fans, thank you for your support and understanding.

Summer Scrimmages

For those who signed up for our summer league, we are going to turn three of the practices into scrimmages which will be Monday June 18th, Wednesday June 20th, and Monday June 25th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm in Santana’s gym. We have two schools participating which are Serra and Maranatha High School. Serra will have an advanced team, Maranatha will have an intermediate and advanced team, and Santana will have an intermediate and advanced team participating in the scrimmages. Unfortunately, neither school has a freshman team but we will have our freshman still practice and scrimmage each other during this time on one of the courts. My plan is to give time for the five teams to warm up and then we’ll start our scrimmages. We are going to do a round robin type format between all of the teams with no score kept. Each team will need to sit out one time due to the odd number of teams. Attached below is the schedule of what I am thinking but it is subject to change. Any parents or family members are welcome to come and watch if they would like!

Returning Players Meeting

There is a mandatory meeting for all returning players who are interested in girls volleyball. The meeting is for players only and will be held on Friday, May 25th during lunch in my classroom, 308. Important information regarding our summer league and tryouts will be distributed.


Summer League/Camp/Tryouts

Santana is going to be hosting some activities this summer during the month of June. Ideally, these actives would take place in July prior to tryouts however our gym is closed the entire month due to a major floor refinishing project. Please carefully look over the google slide below as it has all the necessary information. It also includes other very important details for physicals, athletic clearance, and tryouts. After looking at the slides, please let me know if you have any further questions. We hope to see you there!
