The Santana Dance Program was established in 1996-1997 school year.  With its humble beginnings it has gone through many changes.  


Samantha Spenny

Head Varsity Coach and Choreographer

Mrs. Spenny is a Santana High School Alumni, class of 1992.  She was a competitive high school gymnast and attended Grossmont College where she trained in modern, jazz, and hip-hop dancing under the direction of David Mullen and Kathy Meyer for four years.  Mrs. Spenny choreographed for Grossmont College Dance Concerts.  She has also trained with the owner of Expression Dance and Movement Studio, Darci Fagerwold in choreography classes and Grossmont College Dance Concerts.

Mrs. Spenny also worked for the BBC Dance Company and was in charge of competitive hip-hop and tumbling classes.  After BBC closed its doors, the new studio taking over offered her a full-time teaching position at the new studio.  She declined the offer and solely devoted her time to coaching high school dance.

Mrs. Spenny has choreographed and coached competitive high school dance since 2001 and competitive high school gymnastics since 1991.  Her dancers and gymnasts have won top awards including League and CIF titles, Golden S recipient, and top camp honors in technique and leadership. 

Mrs. Spenny is a full-time Academic Advisor at Santana High School.  She advises and coaches the team full-time.  Mrs. Spenny has 2 daughters.  Her oldest daughter Brielle works at the district office for GUHSD in the school safety department and is our JV coach at SHS. Her youngest daughter Raegan is in the fourth grade.  Mrs. Spenny wears many hats on campus and in her personal life.  Her passion is coaching and mentoring dancers to be well-rounded caring young adults with life skills when they leave the dance program.  

Mrs. Spenny is a highly qualified choreographer in Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, POM, and Kickline. NDCA Member, NDCA Coaching Mentor, NDCA Onboarding Coordinator







Brielle Wilkerson

Junior Varsity Coach 

Brielle is a Santana High School Alumni, class of 2015.  Brielle was a member of the dance program from June 2011 through February 2015.  Brielle was the team captain in both her junior and senior years.  She was a 2x all-American dancer, voted best captain at camp, top gun award winner, and won best showmanship performance at NDA Competition in 2015 for her duet with her teammate.  Brielle also served as a peer mediator, gymnastics team captain, league champion on the floor, gymnast of the year 2015, Military athletic award recipient, and Golden S winner.  

Brielle works at the District Office in the School Safety Department.  We are pleased to have Brielle on staff as our JV Dance Coach
