Objectives
Course Description/Objectives:
This is a 2-semester elective course offered to students with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Course objectives include:
● Developing executive functioning skills, such as time-management, organization, prioritizing, goal-setting, and planning.
● Applying study habits and skills for note-taking, test-taking, and managing assignments to increase success across all classes.
● Employing self-advocacy skills to communicate with teachers to seek help/clarification, access necessary accommodations/modifications, and manage social emotional regulation.
● Empowering students to become active members of the IEP team by understanding their IEP and developing and monitoring progress on IEP goals; leverage the IEP as a tool to ensure students are gaining the necessary skill acquisition to be successful in their classes and life after high school.
Grading
Grading Policy:
Grades are available online using Infinite Campus with weekly updates to include daily participation, class assignments, and weekly grade check and self-reflection.
GUHSD default grading scale is used:
100-90%-A
89-80%-B
79-70%-C
69-60%-D
59% and below-F
Conduct Grades:
Exceeds
Meets
Needs Improvement
Unsatisfactory
Make-Up and Late Work Policy:
Students with excused absences can make-up work for full credit.
Students can turn in late work for 70% credit.

Weekly Grade checks/personal reflections on progress
Classroom Expectations & Policies
Students have an active responsibility to foster a climate of intellectual stimulation, openness, and respect for diverse perspectives, questions, personal backgrounds, abilities, and experiences.
Expectations:
Be Punctual, Present, and Prepared
Be Responsible, Respectful, & Honorable
Bring your CHARGED Chromebook along with charging cord on a DAILY basis.
*Chromebooks are to be used for academics-no gaming or social media.
*Cell Phones are to be kept in the cell phone caddy behind the teacher’s desk or in backpacks at all times or they will be confiscated and returned at the end of class. (Pg 47)
Behavior:
If negative behavior impedes the learning of self and/or others, then expect the following:
Warning; Behavior noted
Seat change, distracting items removed
Home communication
Disciplinary action: detention, Referral, escort to the Front Office
