The game ends when one player melds all seven of their cards. This can be done in one turn, known as going out, by forming new melds or adding cards to existing ones on the table. Importantly, you must have at least one pure meld—a run or set formed without using any wild cards, if they are in play. After a player goes out, others tally their score. Points are typically negative, with unmelded cards counting their face value, and aces counting as one point. The player with the lowest total score after a series of rounds is the overall winner.
