Welcome Students and Parents to Guajome Park Academy!
I am so excited to be your Language Arts teacher this year. This is an exciting and nerve racking transition for students and parents who are moving into middle school. My goal is to make this transition as smooth as possible for students and parents.
Background:
This is my third year at Guajome Park Academy. I have been teaching for 18 years with experience in both middle school 6th ,7th , and 8th grade language arts and high school 9th and 10th grade English.
Philosophy:
Throughout these years of teaching different age groups and levels, I have discovered that ALL students need the same things. They need to feel Accepted in the classroom. They need Consistency and Routines in the classroom. These are important to cultivate in the classroom whether it is physical or virtual. I like to use the sports analogy with learning. In sports, individuals have to attend and participate during practice to prepare for game day. In order for students to learn and grow, they need to engage in various practice activities as well. Students game day will be tests, essays, and presentations to show evidence of their learning.
Personal:
I have two sons who are in 8th grade and 5th grade. We are a big baseball family. Our family goal is to visit all Major League Baseball stadiums. We also love anything outdoors.
