Dr. Bailes studied History, Philosophy, and German in college and eventually completed a doctorate degree in German Studies. He published an academic book researching the intellectual achievements of two Austrian thinkers in the 1920s and 1930s. The 2020-21 school year marks Dr. Bailes' 12th year of full time teaching; he is expecting that it will be his best to date.

When Dr. Bailes is not teaching, you can find him falling off of his surfboard, smearing acrylic paint artlessly on canvas, hammering on his off-grid eco-lodge, clumsily hiking a mountain, lost in a European city, training his giant Newfoundland dog Bobo how to be a lap dog, or reading Nietzsche.
