About Mr. Rodriguez

Hello students and G.P.A families! My name is David Rodriguez and I teach 11th grade U.S History and IB History of the Americas. This will be my 12th year teaching at Guajome Park Academy. I started my career as an educator teaching Spanish for two years before I had the opportunity to teach world and U.S history. I received my bachelor's in history from CSUSM and in 2018 I went back and got a master's degree in education. I am passionate about teaching U.S history from multiple perspectives and believe we can't understand the present without studying the past. 

I was born and raised in Encinitas with my parents who immigrated from Mexico and four older siblings. After high school I went to Palomar College and moved to Vista, I have lived here since. My hobbies are traveling, hiking, cruising on my bike, the beach, grilling, and anything else outdoors that I can do with my family. My wife's name is Erika and my twin boys are Diego and Omar. I also have a boxer dog named Nelson that goes everywhere with us. I enjoy watching sports and cheer for the Raiders, Lakers, and Padres! I look forward to getting to know you all this school year.

¡Hola estudiantes y familias de G.P.A! Mi nombre es David Rodríguez y enseño Ciencias Sociales en octavo grado. Este será mi noveno año enseñando en Guajome Park Academy. Comencé mi carrera como educador enseñando español durante dos años antes de tener la oportunidad de enseñar historia del mundo y de Estados Unidos. Recibí mi licenciatura en historia de CSUSM y en 2018 volví y obtuve una maestría en educación. Me apasiona enseñar la historia de los Estados Unidos desde múltiples perspectivos y creo que no podemos entender el presente sin estudiar el pasado.

Nací y crecí en Encintas con dos padres imigrantes y cuatro hermanos mayores. Después de la escuela secundaria fui a Palomar College y me mudé a Vista, he vivido aquí desde entonces. Mis pasatiempos son viajar, hacer senderismo, andar en bicicleta, la playa, asar a la parrilla y cualquier otra cosa al aire libre que pueda hacer con mi familia. El nombre de mi esposa es Erika y mis hijos gemelos son Diego y Omar. También tengo un perro boxer llamado Nelson que va a todas partes con nosotros. ¡Disfruto viendo deportes y animo a los Raiders, Lakers y Padres! Espero conocerlos durante todo este año escolar.
