Description:

Learn surface modeling techniques in Solidworks, primarily for creating aerobody designs or any other curved models.

Prerequisites:

Basic understanding of Solidworks/CAD

   1. 3D vs. 2D sketches

   3. Bezier curves

2. Parametric modeling

   1. Proper dimensioning

   2. Equations panel

3. 3D surface features

   1. Surface sweep

   2. Loft

   3. Surface extrude

   4. Surface trim

   5. Knit

   6. Fillets

   7. Thicken/Intersect

4. General aerobody design tips

   1. When/where to use surface features

Practice:

1. Be able to use each of the surface modeling features to create a surface

2. Create an aerobody design or something of similar complexity

Instructor Qualifications:

1. Make an aerobody design that can be parametrically modified
