Prereqs:
Basic understanding of statics
Basic CAD Skills
Topics Covered:
Theory
Basic NX Background
Explanation on FEA and how it works
CAD aspects
Design a basic Solidworks Part
Talk about the different file types
Meshing
Different types of meshes
Using the 3D mesh
Setting up the 3D Mesh
Modifying Mesh Parameters (e.g. size)
Changing and adding materials
Simulation
Applying constraints
Applying loading
Different types of loading distribution (bearing, force, fixed, pinned)
Results
Analyze Results
Extract Factor of Safety from results
Using “Identify Results” and “Max” annotation
Practice Scope
Design a simple part in CAD
Follow the steps to complete the FEA simulation and see if you are able to get results
Instructor Qualification:
Do 3D FEA on an suspension part and replicate current instructors’ results (or tell them what they did wrong!)
