Sweet Revenge by author Dan Brown now available on Amazon!
This book reviews the evolution of victim's rights in the United States Criminal Justice System. The American Courts in the last 50 years have focused on the rights of the accused in the criminal justice system. This book contains a full analysis of the criminal justice trial process with a primary focus on the rights of the victim during the trial and appeal. In recent years, the focus of the policy makers and the courts have shifted to provide compensation programs for victims of violent crimes. The book concludes with a state by state analysis of the compensation programs for crime victims of each of the 50 states.
The author of this title is a seasoned, accomplished, and brilliant jurist in addition to his being an assistant professor at my graduate alma-mater, Southwestern Oklahoma State University located an hour west of Oklahoma City in Weatherford, Oklahoma. I had the great privilege to purchase, read, and now offer my public review of this extraordinary title. Chances are you and/or someone you know is, has been, or will be the victim of a crime at some level or extent in your life; if so, this book is for you. If you have an interest in the legal process this book is a must have for your collection. This is a must have for libraries for inclusion in their reference sections and by all means if you are preparing to enroll in a Criminal Procedure course this is an excellent 'suggested read'. Mr. Brown, though a lawyer having once argued before the United States Supreme Court and in spite of his status as an assistant professor of criminal justice, breaks a very complicated subject down into outline and bullet point form for easy of consumption (in spite of his merciless approach to International Law at SWOSU just teasing doc brown ). Overall, this is an excellent read and I definitely recommend that you purchase this book. The only negative I can offer is that I would have hoped for my information on crime victims as they relate to cyber crime (oh well perhaps Mr. Brown and I can co-author that one at a later time).

I bought this book for my mom, here is her review "I worked in the financial services industry for many years. One of the issues was dealing with customers with financial issues. Many had suffered financial losses as a result of being the victims of financial crimes such as theft of property and identity theft. My heart always goes out to these victims. Buying this book on Amazon, I was amazed at the information relating to the rights of crime victims in the American Justice System. The book contains detailed information about the rights of crime victims. There is state-by-state analysis the victim's compensation programs in each state, along with contact information for a victim to make a claim for compensation. I would urge any victim of a financial crime to obtain this book and start the process of recovery.

I’m an international student attending school in the United States. My major is “ Criminal Justice “. One of the courses I have taken is “ The American Criminal Justice System “. Professor Brown’s book ( Crime Victim ) is the best book that I have seen in area of the rights of crime victims in the American Criminal Justice. The book gives yiu detailed information for any victim of a violent crime to make a claim for compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, counseling expenses, and any other expenses resulting from being the victim of a crime in America. I would RATE the book as “ MUST BUY “ for any crime victim to have to start the process of recovery.

This latest book by Dan Brown is probably his most interesting yet. It looks at 20 different cases where women were charged with homicide and in much of the vein of the current True Crimes genre, Dan recounts the important details of the cases for the audience. When it comes to the verdict, the author walks the readers through the case and provides an analysis of why the case was decided the way it was.
The case studies are short enough that I can assign a couple of these to my classes and know they will actually be read. This will surely help to supplement my lectures and I'm looking forward to some riveting discussions in the coming months!

I recently read this amazing book by Dan Brown. The book presents twenty (20) criminal cases involving the murder of a woman's spouse or significant other and as a woman in a wonderful marriage I would never dream of killing my husband, it took me too long to find and train him, LOL, however, I was curious to see how the U.S. Court System (purported to be the best in the world) would handle women and the rights of women who find themselves caught up in this situation. The stories are absolutely amazing and are far from boring or cut-and-dry, cookie-cutter cases. I was happy to find that at least one case hailed from my home state of Oklahoma. Now, in my description, I mentioned that this book was found by pure accident, I was trolling on YouTube and came across a series of videos by searching "justifiable homicide" I found myself down the rabbit hole, and before I knew it, I was locked in with laser focus on a series of videos by "Dan Brown Legal Books) many of which highlighted cases in the book. I would highly recommend Justifiable Homicide as a must-read.

This book is Amazing! The book reviews a growing problem in America---the issue--- "men who abuse women in a domestic relationship ". The American legal system has changed dramatically in the last 30 years, on the issue of domestic abuse. Women who kill their husband's are no longer charged with murder in a domestic homicide. Woman deserve the right to show evidence of domestic abuse to mitigate or Emiliano their punishment, in a domestic homicide. Every woman should own this book to help them when dealing with an abusive husband.

Justifiable Homicide is a fantastic read. The author examines twenty (20) cases from around the United States, spanning a number of years of case law where women were charged with killing their male partners. Some of the women were prosecuted, others were not due to the abusive nature of the circumstances. Among the cases featured include the real-life story that inspired the critically acclaimed Hollywood blockbuster “The Burning Bed”. As I said above, this book is a fantastic read but a word of caution to those closet spousal abusers, don’t leave a copy of this title at the bedside and sleep with one eye open. I pitty those who think so low of women that they dog this book or its author. This book is writen by a jurist from the perspective of a lay person with an open and inviting approach.
