Introduction to Structural Mechanics

This is a nice quick video introducing some of the concepts we will be looking at this semester. Structural mechanics is the study of loads and the effects that they have on members within a structure.

Statics: The study of external loads and the external effects of their combination on a structure/member in equilibrium.

Equilibrium: The summation of all the forces on a free body produces no net force on the external free body.
