News from the Park

Parent Newsletter 3 - 22/9/2023

We have had another brilliant week at Brunswick Park. Each classroom has a real buzz of excitement and zest for learning. Here are some highlights from throughout the week:

Nursery have had a wonderful week. They are adjusting to Nursery life and settling in very well - we are very proud of them.

Reception have responded brilliantly to the owl babies’ story, sharing their ideas about how to make the owl babies feel better. They have also wowed us in PE lessons!

Year 1 started their exciting journey around the world with Baxter Bear! They have already explored Europe and have been introduced to Thomas the Tank Engine from the United Kingdom and the Russian Dolls from Russia. They can't wait to visit the rest of the continents and meet toys from around the world.

Year 2 developed their drama skills this week. They created freeze frames for their class story 'Blue Penguin.'

Year 3 took part in a virtual workshop with Dr Amy Edgington from UCL where they explored properties of rocks and the rock cycle.

Year 4 became history detectives, using clues to help them create their own Roman settlements.

Year 5 also took part in a virtual space workshop led by Dr Amy Edgington from UCL - it was out of this world!

Year 6 have immersed themselves in their science lessons, exploring the circulatory system. They had great fun learning about the heart and completing an interactive quiz to test their new knowledge.

BP Reading Corner

Let us take you on a journey. A journey of discovery, amazement and wonder – that’s what reading a good book feels like.

We all know the educational benefits of reading, such as improvements in vocabulary, speech and writing.

By the time a child is five-years-old they would have heard:

But reading goes beyond these educational benefits.

It benefits the reader emotionally and mentally.

Many world leaders and famous book authors have cited reading for helping them through dark times and helping them feel free.

Reading truly is the best friend, you thought you’ll never find.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go.” — Dr. Seuss

Macmillan Coffee Morning

We are hosting a Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, in the parent hub after drop off on Friday 29th September 2023!

Last year, our event was a huge success both in raising much needed funds and in being a well attended event for the school community. Donations from Coffee Mornings made a vital difference, and helped MacMillan continue their incredible work. Every cup counts, and will support Macmillan in doing whatever it takes to help people living with cancer live life as fully as they can.

This day will be a non-uniform day where children can wear white and/or green to show their support for Macmillan. We suggest an optional donation of £1 or £2 which you can also pay via SchoolMoney - you will find this payment under the 'shop' option.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity.

There will be a cake/fruit sale after school too!

Please also support us by donating (nut free) cakes or fruit on Friday 29th September to the school office before 8.45am and coming along to the hub after drop off to join our Coffee Morning!

You can donate to this incredible charity by visiting this website or scanning the QR code:
